I could never really understand why you almost traded this with my bike.

If I were you at that time, I would've never thought of trading this strat for anything.

i seriously think that was a terrible relic job. seems unnatural that the paint would fade somehow in an even fashion relative to the pickguard and hardware.

i feel it wouldve been better if it was let alone become a relic by itself, after all it was a true vintage. then it would have more value.

but then again, thats just me. dont shoot me for my opinion, that this is not the best, or should i say ,a proper example of a relic job.

do you see anyone saying: "pare, that's terrible"... it's improper...the fashion ain't relative to the pickguard, yah should have just leave it alone...

hey dude, i wasnt picking on you. it was an honest opinion. i dont even remember what past issues we had. i didnt know you kept records.

really, do i have to be a better guitar player than the short list of people who gave your reliced guitar a thumbs-up to give an opinion whether or not that relic job on your guitar was good or not? are the only acceptable replies those that we want to hear?

should we have to submit your guitar to the relic gurus (beyond this forum) and hear what theyve got to say?

this is an example of a copy of rory gallagher's famous relic:

and this is your highly-appraised relicized guitar:

very nicely done?

^^ I think jimy james' strat looks great. Especially for a reliced one. It looks natural. It wasn't a relic job like what you're trying to imply. It just aged naturally.

This is exactly what a guitar would look like after 30 years of constant use and abuse.

Oh and by the way, wood and plastic don't age the same. Go figure.

No biggie bro.  :-D Yes, I do keep records. here:

as far as I remember, the "issue" was that of Darius Semana's ( Parokya ni Edgar ) "Tone" & guitar skills.
a lot of so called "experts" were pickin' on him ( a thread was made ). peeps say that his tone was "manipis" & his skills/technique were just limited to just the basic scales ( blues, pentatonic, etc )...

I "kinda" defended him ( I was producing events w/ Backbeat artists Like Parokya, Queso, Kamikazee, Moonstar 88 )...
one doesn't have to be a shreder just to prove that he is good. an example would be that axeman fm Rocksteady. I can't stand his solos.  I'd take Jun Lopito, or even David Aguirre against that shred freak.   but hey, that's just me.  :-D

again, "Tone" is subjective. there has been a lot of fights in this forum regarding that. challenges of "shoot-outs" ala Croosroads, amp, guitars & whathaveyou shootouts. HIYAW !  :-D

should we have to submit your guitar to the relic gurus (beyond this forum) and hear what theyve got to say?

No need for that bro. I remember John DLC  doin a relic job on Atticus' Les Paul... daming negative comments. & also a white strat reliced by Arie ( or was that a Tele ) ? so what's the rule of thumb w/ this? what are the "relic gurus" ( don't even know how they earned the title )  dogma on the subject?

here's Beck's relicked Esquire:

I find it quite ugly :-D but that's just me. Fender Custom Shop won't come up w/ replicas of this if they think it sucks.
Same thing goes w/ the Jaco Pastorius Strat. ( but that I lurv ).

If a wanna paint my Shelby Cobra psychedelic paisley/flower people blue, & peeps would sa: WTF? it's a classic muscle car, why'd you do that? I'd say: go to hell. It's my car, I can do anything I want w/ that.

I'm really not after the Rory look, or SRV. ( Rory's got a rosewood fretboard while SRV's pao ferro, mine's a one piece/Slab maple )

im not the one who beefs up machismo and keeps posting photos of half naked women all over this forum.

No need for Beef bro. What's wrong w/ those pics anyway? that ain't porn. no nip slip, camel toes, frontal nudity or anything offensive. It's just sexy.  dude, are you an advocate of Gabriela? mas masagwa naman kung pics ni derek ramsey in speedo's diba  :-D

btw, FHM's editor in chief ( AH ) is a buddy. he plays guitah for a popular goth band. ( he got a "Muddy Waters" Tele fm me ). so, what's wrong w/ a musician who likes hawt, sexy gurls' pics?  :-D

I'm not that fond of the relic'd thrown-in-the-swamp look on strats anyway, but I like your guitar jimy james.  The thing just screams mojo, the owner (you) put in a lot of love into it, and got it used and beat up!  If  soul and passion isn't at the core of a relic'd guitar, I'm not sure I understand why people pay huge dollars to have that look.
