I should be able to have both models of the Bruno Super 100 and the Bludotone all set up and ready for you to compare.  We can even throw a Two Rock Opal and Custom in the mix so you really played everything against each other.


I have one more thing you might want to consider if you like the color. I have a custom made Komet 60 and matching cabinet is a special custom color of Sonic Blue.  The cabinet is made by Ossie with the aged Baltic Birch but with the matching Komet Cosmetics on the speaker cabinet. The cabinet is loaded with Celestion's very best  Heritage ( made in England) G12 30 55hz speakers.  The cabinet even has a custom ivory white grill cloth to match the ivory white V on the Komet 60.  This cabinet sounds very close to my old original one.  This is a very cool set.

Hi Alex, I notice that you spend loads of time money and energy looking for great sounding gear. Question, are you not satisfied with what you have? IMO at a certain price point, all these amps start to sound alike. How much variation can you get out of guitar tone, really? And is it worth the $$$ to get that minute tonal difference? Thanks!

Hi Alex, I notice that you spend loads of time money and energy looking for great sounding gear. Question, are you not satisfied with what you have? IMO at a certain price point, all these amps start to sound alike. How much variation can you get out of guitar tone, really? And is it worth the $$$ to get that minute tonal difference? Thanks!

I am quite satisfied with what I have but I still need to acquire the great sounding gear that I don't have.  The analogy is like having an array of spices for cooking.  It requires getting the best of all the spices. 

Yes there is a price point.  For amps around US$3k and above -- of course not all of them are good but the good ones in this range really define guitar tone.

I get a lot of variation by using different amps.  The difference are NOT minute. It is worth every $$$ if you are as committed as me to guitar tone.

I wish I was as 'ignorant' as you in a good way. Kasi kung nakatikim ka ng great tone, parang addiction.   And thats why, I encourage you and others to enjoy your current state kasi baka mas happier nga kayo na hindi naghahabol ng tonequest at mag enjoy lang ng gitara.  As they say in this case, IGNORANCE is bliss and let me add is healthier.

But for people like me who are already in too deep, its really about reaching the apex of what great tone is.  Once you reach the apex, it gives you a feeling of satisfaction that allows you to resist forums, sift thru opinions, determine what sounds good on the first strum or lick, and to avoid sales & marketing ploys by local companies like JB, etc.  Moreover, its the PERCEIVED personal satisfaction that you can hang in there with the best of the foriegn artists when it comes to gear.

Nope... I have a teleportation machine.  Heh Heh.  I am NOT yet sure what to buy but its really between the Komets, Bludotone and Bruno Super 100.  All other amps are just either pale or defective in comparison and that includes the Roccaforte which I wanted to love but really fell short of the Komet.

The other thing I realized that Gainstar is the best matchless type amp beating Bad Cat and Matchless itself.  Too bad that they are out of production.  If you love matchless, gainstar just kills them.

By the way, for the snubbish metal crowd, Diezel remains to be the King when it comes to chug chug.  Bar none -- marshall and mesa will never hold against Diezel.  And the Komets, Bludotones and Brunos given a little help from a distortion or overdrive pedal will out METAL marshall or mesa. And in the process sound bigger, better and more pleasing to the ear.

+1 sa Never. Tone is only half of the equation, I'd rather have bad tone with godly skills than good tone with crappy playing. And oh, another +1 that there would also be no videos here, just like in his other countless reviews.
