May video na ginawa si Ola about finding the sweet spot for the mic.

I think, it's cheap only because it was produced before M-Audio merged with Avid who also owns the Digidesign/ProTools brand. So they started making nicer-looking but essentially the same products, took some features out (walang MIDI I/O sa Avid MBox na 2in) and bundled it with ProTools SE and charged as much as twice for it.

Apparently driver based sya so baka hindi gumana kung sakali.

Naka basa ako about re-amping a DI track...still can't wrap my head around that idea though, parang narinig ko din si Ryan Bruce aka Fluff na sinuggest yun.

Was recording a demo track for my punk band...napagtrippan kong palitan yung drumset sa EZDrummer within the MIDI track, from a normal set to electronic pack. Interesting results i must say hahahaha

i agree, kalokohan talaga yang Avid na yan (overpriced).

anyway, got the m-track because it's the cheapest one with MIDI I/O. didn't want to buy a separate overpriced box for MIDI or worse, a MIDI to USB cable.

I got it for almost the same reason. bang for buck, all the I/O you need for a decent solo home studio, including the MIDI. walang ganun na Avid, kahit Focusrite, for the same price.

Okay lang, mas Tahimik kaysa Generic usb guitar link or bheringer usb guitar link. For guitar practice through pc pwede na.

a decent audio interface and microphones.

don't buy cheap mics! Shure, Audio Technica, Audix, etc. are the way to go. Two condensers (AT2020/AT2021) and one dynamic (Shure SM57/Audix i5) is the best minimum set you can get for a home studio IMO. syempre palitan ang brand at model depende sa preference, at least sa condensers.  :)

-mic stands
-good long XLR cables (bitin ang 5 meters promise)
-a decent computer. if it was made in the past 5 years, ok pa yan.
-new drum heads, kung luma na yung drum heads
-closed back headphones for monitoring. kahit cheap lang basta marinig mo. except kung isa lang ang gagamitin mo:
-good quality headphones for mixing. mas balanced ang tunog, mas ok.

optional:

drums: madaming mic na agad yan pre. the minimalist approach would require at least three mics, one for kick and two overhead mics panned hard left and hard right (no experience here, just read it somewhere). merong microphone set na nabibili for drum kits (more than three yun). so, microphones for drums alone... should be shouldered by your drummer kung gusto niyang masali sa recording, hahaha.

mic for guitar amp or DI box/multi-fx (with cab sim) straight to mixer/audio interface. mixer... hmmm... baka 2 mixers pa nga siguro... one as sub-mixer for the drums (lecheng drummer na yan talaga).

another mic for bass amp or DI box/multi-fx.

for the vocalist, okay na rin ang dynamic mic (as opposed to an expensive condenser). kung wala kang isolation booth baka marecord mo lang din ang room ambience pag condenser mic.

don't forget about the mic stands/booms (putik ang gastos).

my recommendation: hanap ka ng pirata ng ez drummer or groove agent... hehehe.

okay cake muna bago icing...

1. the computer is an integral/indispensable part, so no worries if you have a decent one.
2. kung strictly recording lang ang gagawin (walang VST instruments/effects), your existing soundcard may be adequate... pero ingat sa DC bias which is common in consumer products. latency is not really an issue in this case, you could maybe buy an audio interface later na lang if you have outgrown your existing soundcard. just make sure na LINE IN yan at hindi MIC IN.
3. microphones/DI boxes, alam mo na yan, everything you need to connect your PC with the outside world. you can minimize number of mic's kung track-by-track at hindi live ang recording. just learn how to make a click track with your DAW.

saka ka na mag-canvass ng audio interface or pre-amps kung hindi ka masaya sa output mo. go go go!

=======================

"what if using software like cubase irecord ko na lang sila isa isa using one or two mic directly to PC?"

you still need 3 mics > mixer > stereo output > soundcard LINE IN.
