i've done a couple of deals with tom, i've bought japanese made basses and 1 amp. so far the deals were ok for me. the basses needed some work and i had someone worked on them. i'm satisfied with the basses and the amp, i believe i have good deals naman. here are some comments opinions i have on certain items that were already discussed
buying from Tom - his prices tend to be high, though i've seen on some cases, may makukuha ka pa din na relavitely lower price yung sakanya compared sa ibang items dito. However the price is still ok for me. I can't find similar items on the market or tamad lang ako. for my convenience i would just buy his item. he'll definitely try to sell his products take time to listen and ask questions. since baguhan ako, di ko alam na reissue ang ibig sabihin ng RI, so i asked him about it... tapos tinanong ko what's the difference between those 2 identical basses and he'll point it out.
selling to Tom - so far i haven't sold my items pero i've done trades. sa tingin ko conmensurate naman yung mga traded items ko. i traded an effects unit for a discount sa isang bass, i traded a smaller wattage amp for some discount on his higher wattage amp. sa mga tindahan di ka pwdeng magkipag trade and i don't have time to sell the items, so in one part convenient sa akin
I think this is a lost form of communication sa pilipinas. yes texting is ok. pero kung di kayo mag kaintindihan ng kausap mo better call. You have an option to call his cellphone or landline para makatipid ka. in my experience, in general, mas madali pa din makipagusap sa fone.
to deal in his place - i guess this is everyone's prerogative. If you're buying definitely ikaw ang pupunta dun, if you're selling, you have a say kung ayaw mo pumunta dun or what. why would you feel trapped? dahil sayang sa pamasahe, sayang pagod, sayang yung pagpunta? so para din sayang ibebenta mo pa din at a price na di ka agree? dapat wag ganun ang pagiisip mo. firm ka dapat. set your own limitations on the deals, this is the lowest i'll go lista mo sa palad mo, pag yung price nya is mas mababa sa na-set mo, sabihin mo na "
no-can do". pag pumayag ka sa ayaw mo ikaw din ang kawawa, tapos baka mag rant ka dito sa philmusic
. Try to set din his expectations, sabihin mo na
"this is not a guaranteed closed deal until we say it's close, don't expect that i'll leave my item with you, not until we agree". Ganun din pag bibili ka...
i heard you have this item, can i take a look at it and check if it's for me. TIp: bago ka pumunta sa place nya make sure to talk to him on the phone
dealing without his shirt on - first off, mainit sa place nya, so hinde naman sya bare chested for the reason na trip nya yun. he turns on electric fans for visitors. I don't see anything bad with this (at least sa opinion ko ah). Yes he's a business man and he has customers, pero he's not dealing stocks and bonds here, he's not dealing life insurance or cars. He's into musical instruments, tools for rocking out! (rocking out does not give him a reason to be dealing without his shirt on, pero at least it lowers the expectations of dressing up around 10 notches)
on posting pictures - believe me he's really not that good with computers. he's an old geezer. i tried to walk the guy tru posting pictures himself and didn't work. hayyy... (@slowhandpal: there's no point in comparing him with a grade 2 student, kids nowadays tend to be very inquistive when it comes to technology).
yun lang i hope i added value to this thread. Anyway i've been reading one book that says " treat people on based how they treat you and not based on what you hear about them treating other people" or something to that effect.
