i've use so many wah for my 8 yrs of playing guitar....
so i'll make a thread as a guide para sa mga bibili pa lang ng mga wah

I've only tried the Dunlop Crybaby Classic (basically, an original Crybaby with a red fasel inductor in it). Easy to use, felt like I could drive over it and it would still work. :lol:
Judging from clips & online demos.. I like the Fulltone Clyde the most. Lawak ng sweep eh.

535q did it for me. true bypass switch mod na lang. heheh. sino kaya mag-mod nito? heheh
yes, i think hindi pa toh naka true bypass, pero hindi na naman cguro need, this is smooth operation na w/ easy control, MIA, kaya no need to MOD na & chrome finish is very awesome :-o

owned one and hated it. Not because it sucked but because it works best for shoegaze and ambient music. More like a controllable phaser/envelope filter. If you do U2 you'll like it.

yep pero it kinda makes your bypass tone ngongo. heheh. i have a compressor before this kaya di problem. it's good though. the chrome finish makes it yummier.

There's no 'best' wah. (or any other gear for that matter) what works for you and your music is the 'best'. its nice knowing which models are universally acknowledged as 'good/best', but it doesnt equate to being best for you. try what you can from the models posted and decide which works for you. believe in your judgement the same way the people who posted believe in theirs.

Jen Electronica Wah Eto one of the best vintage wah(?). Good sweep lalo na pag clean tone. Kaso pag high gain di masyado maganda.
Dunlop GCB 95 Mura and maganda din naman pag minodify as compared to stock
wow ngayon lang ako nakakita ng gantong dunlop hehe
i love wah too. :-D

@st_anger : boss v wah's are ment only for those multi effect users if you're using it against stomps and not having it looped on the amps i think the tone sucks....

@daturd: di ko lang sure kung san pero meron ako dati nakitang nagbebenta nung area 21 na full replacement na parts ng gcb95 it means na hindi siya modification lang full palit xa ng piyesa.....
kung immodify try mo si sir jmorrero or si liptone the very best pedal makers here sa PM

tama si turi.... dipende sa gamit mo bro...... i preffer kalapit xa ng reverb or delay kung trip mo U2 sounds .... wah + digital delay + tap tempo + analog or reverb + rc2 = COOL!!!

Mga bro ang gaganda ng wah pedal nyo. Parang walang gumamit ng behringer hellbabe.Ano ba comments nyo dito? Low budget ako kaya eto binili ko.Minodify ko kasi ang nipis ng tunog pag nasa peak ng wah siya.Parang bitin sa wah. Katatapos ko lang imodify ipapatest ko muna sa kakilalal ko kung ano comment nila.

pretty happy with my RMC3. Havent spent enough time customizing my sound with it but the one i dialled in for the meantime does it for me :-) check it out. pretty versatile since customizable

u have to get the real meaning of what ive said...not that nonsense.... actually i dont hav this wah,,,mine is gcb95...but ive heared dime wah from others...so, for me its a killer wah!!!!! its a dig that tone...even on high gain... wahahahahaha..... 8-)

So far I have owned a Dunlop 535, 535Q and Budda Wah. All were sold. I have demoed a Crybaby, Crybaby Classic, Slash, Z. Wylde, J. Hendrix, US VOX & Fulltone Clyde Deluxe. Out of all those the Crybaby Classic is best (growliest) to my ears. The Fulltone Clyde to be honest, I don't know what the fuss is about. It's got a wide travel but an abrupt change is sweep. Earlier today I tested the CAE wah and a Teese Picture Wah with better gear ( vintage Les Paul and a Top Hat Club Royale ). As much as I thought I'd like the CAE, the Picture wah owned it. The CAE have that annoying freq spike (around 1/4 of the travel) that all Dunlop wahs have. The yellow mode is too trebley while the red mode is bassy more suited for high gain riffs not leads. The Picture wah's range sits nicely in the middle of CAE's two modes and is smooth, very vocal and above all, musical. I will try it up against a Wheels of Fire, Wizard and will try to borrow my old neighbor's (Wilson endorsee) Rippa-Q before I make my decision.

i have a dime wah.it works really well because you have so many options of sweeps and ranges. plus the Q. ive had a vox v847,morley distortion wah,morley classic wah. but for me nothing beats the crybaby. ung mga morley's kasi,for me medyo bitin un sound.ung vox naman,its a bit harsh on the treble.you cant get much zakk tone out of it hehe. :-D

yeah, i liked that too. i was fortunate enough to play with one at my favorite JB store and if only it costs less than an arm and a leg, i would've buy it instantly. :lol: good points are the tone and sweep range.. very crybaby-ish.. me likey. haha. i just don't know if it's a true-bypass, buffer or whatever. i didn't brought my setup that day so i'm not really sure to what extent it will alter my tone when it's chained on my rig. :-P

I have a crybaby like this one, pero mines gcbfw or fuzzwah love itsomats! Ni retire ko na, kasi the pots were replaced pero still ok, then the jacks for plug broke, awwww been in my friends repair lab for I think a year or more so I decided to get the jh1b.
Also I think that the gcb95 is not good for high gain stuff compared to like slash's, wylde's, evh's and kirk's wahs.

Waiting for ah Philmusician's point of view review (view review lols) of the GIG-FX Megawah or kilo wah :-)
IMHO its the most futuristic aesthetically designed wah I've ever seen (in the internet ofcourse hehe)
i'm working on the review, problem ko e wala akong maayos na guitar amp dito sa bahay ngayon..
primary reason for it's design (as what gig-fx's owner told me) was accessibility nung mga controls. majority kase ng wah diba sa gilid yung knobs, he wanted it sa harap, thus the I-shaped pedal. but you're right, it looks kinda futuristic.
btw, kung meron pala sa inyo mapapasyal sa morayta area bukas ng hapon, pwede nyo i-test yung mga pedals, practice namin sa church yun eh.

To get the most out of the Weeping Demon you need to turn the two trim-pots underneath the pedal using a small screw driver to adjust the range of the sweep.
I didn't enjoy mine untill i discovered this :-D

This is true if you're looking for a classic wah sound. I don't use it that way though coz I have something else for that. :-D I rarely even rock the pedal :-D

hi everyone!just tried the gig-fx mega wah courtesy of kuya jeff(jeffisipbata)....panalo!hehe!im not that good in tweaking pero pag e2 gamit ko hindi ko na kailngan problemahin yun kasi napaka user-friendly nung pedal.konting pihit lang ok na hehe pati natry ko na ibang wah pedals pero dito ko nadalian tapakan.hindi hirap paa ko ung iba kasi di ko makuha ung tamang tapak ko well thats my opinion cympre may kanya kanya tayong preferences pero try niyo din tong pedal na baka ito na hinahanap niyo na wah pedal....
bout sa tunog,madami kang pwdeng gawin..pati kung naghahanap kayo ng pedal na very minimal ang tone suck e2 na un ramdam mo p din true tone niya pag naka off yung sa wah...e2 share ko sa inyo yung nagawa kong track gamit yung gig-fx wah pedal..

To get the most out of the Weeping Demon you need to turn the two trim-pots underneath the pedal using a small screw driver to adjust the range of the sweep.
I didn't enjoy mine untill i discovered this :-D

Saw the vid man.. Damn... that pedal is messed up! hehe. My WD7 is 4 years old now. My gf got me this pedal when we were still in college. Sobrang inalagaan ko to dahil bigay nya kaya naman mint na mint pa walang gasgas whatsoever. Naka flightcase pa ako kaya well protected sha. Take note though that I weigh around 200 lbs kaya kung masisira man to just by the sheer weight of my foot.. matagal na dapat shang nasira.. I dont know what the guy in the video did pero if you dont abuse it and you're lighter than me Im sure its not gona fall apart hehe.
If you're gona buy this pedal though... I hope you realize that whatever you do with it, no matter how much you tweak it.. You will never ever get a classic "wah" sound out of it. I use this pedal much like how Vai uses his Bad Horsie. He uses his wah together with his whammy bar to make wierd sounds. In short, for me its more of an expression pedal than a wah pedal. I make use of its uber wide frequency range during solos to give a little spice and edge to my sound. I dont use it like how Hammett uses his wah where he "wahs" every note. Thats just not what the pedal was built for. Check out my pedalboard demos:
Notice that I switch on the pedal in the toe-down position using the footswitch and I dont even rock it. I just leave it at that position and then I use my Zoom's whammy to make the pedal scream. Why do I even bother clicking it on? At the toe-down position it makes it so easy for me to do stranglehold-babies even with my amp volume at only 20%. In the second video notice how long I held that note at 9:08. That's 17 seconds. And it didn't even decay on me. I could have held that note for days if I wanted to hehe. But I could only make the strings resonate at a certain frequency with my amp infinitely without cranking up my volume to 100% with the help of the Weeping Demon. :-)
I'm not saying you should use it as an expression pedal too. I'm just trying to give you a heads-up. :-) If you're looking for an old-school, run-of-the-mill, mom-n-pop kinda wah pedal.. to get that "classic wah" sound, you'll be better-off getting a Cry baby :-)

i just recently got a Vox wah pedal and i'm still thinking if i need to have it TBP modded or not...when the wah is disengaged, i don't hear any significant tonal difference.

maybe the 845 has a good buffer maxi.. some high-end Morleys, kahit hindi true bypassed, maganda talaga ang buffer kaya ok na as is.. yung mga classic wah, yun ang tone sucker.. low end kasi at hindi ganun kaganda ang buffer circuit..
if hindi naman significant yung tonal difference, i don't see the need for it to be TBP'd.. :wink:

the boss is also a buffered pedal.. try plugging straight to your amp then the Vox-Boss chian.. i'm pretty sure meron nang loss yun.. pero baka nga hindi overly significant kasi dalawa lang..

Bro if you have 6 TBP pedals and you have a TBP wah, you're gona loose some top end due to cable capacitance. You're gonna need a good buffer to drive the long cable run. :-)

I was testing my newly intonated guitar a while ago. I plugged it in and ran it through my board to check. A few minutes into my playing, I noticed that the DC cable from my PSU to my ZW-45 wah isn't connected. Does that mean that the Wylde wah is TBP?

The GCB-95 is not true bypass, and nor is it buffered. Its bypass system only switches the output signal, while the circuit input is permanently connected ("hardwired", as dunlop calls it) to the input jack.

Ung friend ko kasi na si Armzcore ay nag bebenta ng 3.5k lang na auto wah. Bibilhin ko ba? heto ung ung subject line niya: FS/FT: Boss AW3 (Dynamic Wah) 3.5K. Ngapala kung saka sakaling interesado rin kayo dun sa autowah hanapin niyo nalang si Armzcore.

bro, what wah can you suggest to me? i'm thinking of one between 3-3.5k.. aside from the artec wahs ha.. :-)
i don't care if it's used or brand new.. i just need a good starter wah na pwede narin for keeps.. it should have a really good buffer if not TBP and a good wah tone and sweep..

i'm looking at the PW-7.. konti lang kasi price diff sa APW-5.. so dun na ako sa mas mataas.. what really got me was the features vs the price.. TBP na kasi.. what i don't like bout other low priced wah's, they have crap buffers.. even if they have a good brand name.. and i don't like that.. :lol:

i think for your budget ok yung Artec wah's.
regarding your TBP / buffer issues, basahin mo to, medyo technical but a very good read
ang gripe ko lang kasi sa buffered na wah na relatively inexpensive, their buffers are mediocre.. katulad nalang nung sa morley classic wah.. i think sa mag gcb-95 din and stock vox wahs.. hindi ganun kaganda yung buffer circuit nila kaya ayun, nadedefeat yung purpose.. they cut a lot of high frequencies pag nasa chain, or sometimes even when alone..
although with gig-fx, iba naman ang buffer niya kasi high quality na.. high quality buffers are good, pero habang gumaganda ang pyesa, pumapangit ang presyo.. haha.. well, sa ngayon hindi ko ma-afford ang gig-fx wahs, thus the price comment :lol:.. although a friend recommended me the MEGAWAH.. :lol:
ayun.. with my budget, the only buffered ones i can get are the low end wah pedals.. i actually don't have anything against buffers basta high quality.. i'll be having a Visual Sound pedal in a couple of days and it's a buffered pedal, but it's supposed to have a very high quality buffer..
ayun.. so siguro, with my budget.. i think the Artec Wahs are they way to go, provided, they'll work well for my beginner likings when i try them out.. bwahahahahaha..
potted wahs are also good or better than optical wahs kasi mas maganda raw ang sweep response nila.. pero pots wear and eventually need to be replaced, so ayun.. am a bit weary din dun.. but not much.. haha.. and most potted wahs are buffered or need to be modded to TBP..

Although Id love a Plutoneum Wah. Weird nga lang kasi anliit at iba yung pag rock ng footswitch niya. Pedal down for the higher sweep tama?

yep! you can! there are holes to accommodate the red fasel... the limited edition plutoneium wah has the red fasel by default... the regular ones have the custom plutoneium fasel... the plutoneium fasel has a wider range and is more updated...
but if you want the 'mojo' of a red fasel, you can opt to have it changed by plutoneium with additional expense on your part... if you can change it yourself, much better...

question... well I started a thread about this as well but some guys here may not see it...
one of the screws on the rubber foot broke in half leaving part of the screw inside the whole. Is there any way for me to remove it and simply replace the screw so I can secure my wah plate underneath again?

Na try ko na yan side by side ng RMC Picture wah. Yung red & yellow fasel ay either too low or too high for me while the Pic wah's freq sits nicely in the middle. I prefer the Pic wah. For me the best (most vocal) wah is the pre 2004 non pcb Picture wah. I also like the new Jen looking Hendrix wah, almost same freq range the Wylde wah pero not as harsh sounding and like all Dunlop wahs merong kink sa potentiometer so hindi kasing smooth ng RMC ang transition.

I re-read my post and I'm not implying that one wah is better than the other, depende lang yan sa rest ng gamit mo at sa type tugtugan mo. There are other guys esp. on TGP who sold their Pic wah then got the CAE wah and they like it better so to each their own lang talaga. The best way is to test it yourself if that's possible. For me, coming from the Hendrix/ SRV school of wah the old RMC Pic wah is it. It's too bad that Geoff Teese can't source the old parts anymore so antay lang ako ng used one but I'm planning on getting that new Jeorge Tripps designed Hendrix wah and possibly change the pot, I think that's good enough for me in the meantime.

bro a remedy for behringer hellbabe.... open mo yung back metal part while nakasaksak sa battery or adaptor ha para makita mo kung saan yung light...tapos pagnakita mo na yung inductor light you will see a paper like na nagccover dun sa light.... yun yung kailangan mejo lakihan ng konti para yung light na pumapasok ay mejo lumaki...
you will notice your sound na mejo lalaki depende sa positioning nung pagkakaapak mo sa wah...nakadepende kasi dun sa light na papasok dun sa paper yun ehhh... simple mod... pero still panget pa rin hahah...ibebenta mo din yan!!! at bibili ka ng wah ulit!!!

ilang nights ko ring niresearch kung dapat ko pang ibenta ang crybaby classic ko para makuha ko ang for a month na gas kong vox 847a (china made).
checked on youtube and best talaga siguro yung demo/review ni gearmandude (para talagang siya si jack black e but he's not hehe). definitely vox caught my eyes and ears thru his demo. yun ang hanap kong tunog ng wah e.
then last night me and jeproks74 got the chance to test it ng sabay at actual ala gearmandude :lol: kasi kakilala naman namin ang nagbebenta. eto ang aming napagtanto:
malamang, us made ang vox na tinest ni gearmandude. unanimous kasi sa mga review here at sa ibang forum sa net na napakalayo ng ganda ng tunog ng orig us made vox 847 sa china made.
tone sucker / not true bypass ang china made. nabawasan na nga ang tone ng guitar mo e nabawasan din ang gain ng guitar mo. parang 30% ng tone guitar mo ang nawala.
mas mabigat ang crybaby at parang madaling bibigay ang pedal ng vox in time when you're playing na compared to crybaby.
we tested it ng nasa clean, overdrive, distortion effects ng direkta muna ang guitar sa amp then vox wah lang ang nakakabit then crybaby lang then vox at crybaby wahs na parehong nakaplug.
talagang looks can be deceiving. :-o (sorry vox china)
nawala ang gas ko sa vox. siguro ibang usapin na kapag us made na ang matatry ko. :-D
crybaby classic... truly a classic one. for keeps!
stick to what i have now and to hell with gas na hehe kasi i think us made itong meron ako at galing din ito sa same person na nagbebenta ng vox hehe. mas mura pati nya binenta sa akin ang crybaby.
just my thoughts on two wahs that i've tried and tested. :lol:

+1 on this! ganda talaga ng tremonti. angat na angat sa live because of the 20db boost. ayos din ang porma. masarap yung midrange niya ang lawak at vocal. wah wah talaga.
kaso minod ko yung sweep ng akin. nilagyan ko pa ng mas maraming treble sweep sa taas at inagahan ko yung pag-on niya.

the bassist and the guitar player both uses the bass wah..
linde(guitarist) says he uses the dunlop bass wah because it does not affect the bottom end much hence still remaining heavy. thats pretty neat.
and for me the white wah looks cool. hehe

Tagal na rin nung saken. Quite nothing like it. If you're looking for a quiet and reserved, wacka-wacka-wow-wow funk action, it's not for you!! (although pwede pilitin basta zero yung boost knob) This one's for face-melting bastusan solos. :-D :-D Sakto lang yung sweep for me, and usually the boost knob's around 1 o'clock.

just thought i'd share my thoughts. Iba nga talaga yung US made. Matagal ko na rin naisip dati na palitan 'yung akin to something like a Teese. But then, ok na ako dito eh. haha mine's got all the mods - blue led, true bypass, modded parts,etc. Plus, i just like the way the Vox looks on a pedalboard (anlaki nung nakalagay na vox haha). Medyo plain tingnan yung teese eh

Para sa tenga ko nung narinig ko yung ibang sikat na Wah, parang moan ng babae... I mean it's so Waaaooo waoooo wah. Ang hinhin...
Nagbakasali lang din ako noon sa Tremonti Wah, fortunately yun nga hinahanap ko. Unang apak ko napataas yung boost ko nagulat ako kasi parang minura ako. Ang tapang at ang lakas pa haha, pero sakto sa preference ko.
Other na matatapang din para sa akin, Wylde Wah at lalo na yung Dime Wah...
Pero trip ko rin yung Slash Wah, lawak din ng sweep nito eh.

dude you should try it! anlupit! and it works for me since i do vox and guitars at the same time. switchless kaya walang hassle. morleys are not as quacky as crybabys but they are more hifi. smooth even. pero nagmumura. about the lynch, aliw na aliw ako sa wah lock. hahaha. i can do the half cocked sound without searching for it at the midrange anymore. traded in a broken boss pedal at JB and i got it 40% off. it cant do the classic rock wah sound though. the tremonti can do the voodoo chile sound, this one cant. but not a problem since i dont use it for that application.

ang galing nga niyan e. just moving the leds nearer or farther really changes the sound. you can email them din. they answer fast. dati nagkamali ako ng cut sa shutter and i got to much treble sweep, they sent me a new shutter for free. they have great customer service.

If you guys find a Pro Analog Supa Quack wah pedal that's available, whether new or used, BUY IT. I don't say this much, but I'll go out on a limb to say that it's more or less the be-all, end-all wah. I haven't tried any other wah that sounds as good. Maybe only an Area 51-modded wah comes fairly close to it. If you want the best wah that sounds great for any kind of music, I highly recommend this wah. If you guys wanna try it out, I can bring mine at a PhilMusic event or something.
But alas, it might be difficult to look for one now as I've read that Scott Smith, the Pro Analog pedal designer/builder, is on the lam for fraud. It might be true or it might be just a rumor, but I believe he's stopped building new pedals. Kinda like the christer/CGI Electronics case here in PhilMusic a couple of years back.

maybe a slash wah or a rare hiwatt wah.....bakit ko nasabi??? lutang na lutang yung tunog nila kahit ipatong mo ang heavy sounding dirt pedal.... yun ang gus2 ko kasi na characteristic ehh... yung kahit ipatong mo yung dirt ehh humihiyaw pa din at kayang mag cut ng 2nog sa isang band....
kung sasabhin mo na magmorley ka okie maganda ang morley sa dirt ehh panu kung clean na tapos morley pa din... tingting ang labas mo nun....
mccoy's are okie also pero sana yung wheels of fire or yung eqwahlayzer na models lang....
madami kasing wah na parang volume drop ang ngyayari pag enengage mo ehh... yung humihina ang sound nila pag gamit mo na which is a no no factor

sir meron po ba kayo maisusuggest na wah pedal na for aspiring newbies lang at mejo affordable maybe 5k below price. sa ngayon, ginagamit ko pong pinaka wah ko is g2.1u zoom effects lang kaso tunog digital talaga at pag gumagamit ako ng wah, ang laki ng hinihina ng volume ng guitar pag ginagamit.
tinatry kong kunin yung mga distortion wah effects ni ira ng bamboo sana e haha.

I've owned an Area 51 wah, had it for ages before I decided to unload it.
For some strange reason (and I am sure that you will think that I am a little nutty for this) I didn't end up missing it. I was missing the quack of a "fine-tuned" DOD FX-17 volume wah.
Must be my damn ears. But I was fortunate to find another for a good price, and reuniting with it felt goooood :-D
But for sheer quack and dirt, for real jimi stuff, you can't beat the Area 51. But for a modern, smooth filtered sweep with attitude, my heart and ears gravitated back to the fx-17. the "F" could stand for alot of things, inlcuding FUNK :-D
(The trick to that el cheapo is to fine tune it via the 2 little holes in front with a jeweller's flat head screw driver. 1 screw tweaks the frequency, the other tweaks the width of the sweep. there is a sweet spot. you know you've hit it when your mouthing the wah and bees are outside your window :-P)
downside to it is, there's a slight signal drop when it is engaged. but i've learnt to live with it! at high volume, no one can tell! :-D

pros: easy to use...pretty much plug and play. versatile with the two switchable modes smooth hifi sounding wont mess with your clean tone that much unless you pop up the volume knob unity gain is at 12oclock. you can make it softer sounding or wilder sounding (boosted by 10db) depending on the volume knob in 2nd mode. switchable sweep moddable switching, time delay, and sweep no pots. nothing to wear out. it wont go scratchy and ack ack ack like a dunlop. no maintenance headache has an inductor. you can swap it out with a fasel if you like. wide sweep especially at the mids and treble auto switching. you can punch in or out of riffs whenever you like. you cant do that with most wahs out there. good bypass. no tone suck.
cons: if you are used to dunlops or vox it is quite hard to adjust to the form factor and sweep range. takes up too much pedalboard space and is heavy because it is optical, it is hifi sounding. so depending on your application, there are times it would sound too smooth not as throaty as a dunlop you cant make it as a steady filter since it is spring loaded Depending on your application and music, the bad horsie can have too much treble on first mode. but you can adjust the sweep in the 2nd mode. gobbles up batteries fast can be noisy with hum if you are not using a quality power supply.

well with the bad horsie 2, you can tune out the treble sweep via several ways. the easiest is to go on mode 2 and adjust the contour. another way is to udjust the ldr lights inside to make it not touch the treble window of the sweep. or you can cover the treble side of the window from the diodes. and finally, loosen the inductor.
putting a red fasel in there is a lot of work. i reckon you'll have a more pronounced bass and low mids if you put one. but i dont think it would be throaty enough to get head to head with the best dunlop, and vox. throaty is the function of a combination of things----a great inductor, pots and whatnot. optical wahs are by function and nature very smooth sounding. and they are great for high gain applications.
checkout the plutoneium chi wah wah. they ship it with red fasels as a customer option. by far this is the closest spring loaded wah to get into the "pot enabled" sound of dunlops. the tremonti wah has a better growl than the horsie since it has a better inductor and boost mechanism. the lynch wah can at least replicate the growl of say a zakk wylde wah or a dimebag dunlop and it has a notch switch if you want to make your wah as a steady lead filter. the dunlop switchless gcb 95q is supposed to be a switchless version of the 535q but it sounds anemic. It has pots but i dont think it has an inductor.
these are the only ones i tried so far...and i stuck with a lynch dragon 2 wah because it suits my needs right now. i dont do funk and wah in clean anyway.

---- REVIEW OF PLUTONEIUM CHI-WAH-WAH ----
So Masterchoxter was kind enough to watch last Friday's Blues Night at Conspiracy and lend me his Plutoneium Chi-Wah-Wah to try out (btw, jellogz also let me try his Klone made by plugzzz). Chox is a smart guy and he knew one gig wouldn't be enough to evaluate a piece of gear so he offered to let me bring it home to test more thoroughly. That's like offering Johnny Walker to an alcoholic, right, so how can I refuse? LOL.
My observations (summary only, you can find all the specs on the web): - As you probably already know, this pedal is indeed 'weapons grade'. Chox says the casing uses the same metal used on guns! "Tough as bricks" would be an understatement. So you are paying for the leading edge innovations (eg, the form factor, "instant play" actuator, controls, etc.), you also get quality materials and construction. - The treadle's throw gets pretty deep so you get a very wide range of sound. - The level and gain control makes a lot of sense. Most of us like to use wah for solo parts so having a little boost when you step on the wah is like stepping on 2 pedals at once. The gain control adds more dimension and richness to the sound too. - The contour knob is really effective in providing a wide array of tones. The contour before 9 o clock can focus on the lows and mids which works for blues, or past 3 o clock for mids to high treble for screaming shred. I like it before 12 o clock. - The controls are very sensitive to the input. A Strat will sound very different from an LP. That's a good thing. smiley - My only issue is that for a pedal which distinguishes itself for being so compact and perfect for strapping onto a pedalboard, it's design actually makes it a little challenging in that context. Add the height of the pedalboard to the height of the pedal and that's how high your toes/feet need to be to work the treadle. You will either have to work it w/ your toes w/ your feet at almost 40 degree angle (at least in my PT Mini) or suspend your foot over the treadle. Again that is if you're going to put it on your pedalboard. If you put it on the floor, no problem at all.
In my usual fashion, I will refrain from judging the tone but will just share soundclips so YOU can be the judge (altho it's still best to try it out yourself). Suffice to say that it gets plenty wacka-wacka to my ears.

thanks for this review sir. that's the same issue i had with the chiwahwah. i like stompin and resting the whole weight of my foot on the treadle like what you normally do with the usual wah form factor. it helps me too balance my weight onstage. but with the chiwahwah, yes, it is a bit challenging to control the chiwahwah. the angle your foot needs to be in is a wee off if one wants to accurately work the sweep.
in full contour and full gain, the chiwahwah sounds like a tremonti with a little edge in volume.

have you tried putting them after the distortion? haha. kasi kahit ako before the distortion aako mag lagay. pero that was before. ngayon iniisip ko pano ang set up ko with my wah na naka dikit n sa zoom multi. tas may naka hiwalay akong distortion,.

now this is confusing. I always go with the simplest set up. nako hindi ko na ata gets yang i loop sa amp then stomp direct input sa amp. :p bahala na, try ko nalang anung set up.

I use it for mods lang mostly, and yung expression pedal naman mostly for volume lang but i do use my wah minsan lang.XD
Well, since modulation usually yung ginagamit, after ako :-) get a separate wah nalang? di naman magagamit kasi yung multi na kapag wah nasa harap tas kapag modulations nasa likod.

i have 2 wah on my board because i jut got from a trade lang(ehehe syempre di ako bibili ng dalawang wah)
and pinakiramdaman ko din kung anu sakanilang dalawa mas gusto ko, for the range mahaba yung sa crybaby,low to high sweep ayos,
yung boss naman, dami nyang nagagwang tunog like parang phaser, parang tremolo, because of the memory features, kaso maiksi yung range, yung haba dun sa heel up and down), but you can adjust the range,pero maiki nga lang haha, sana nagetz nyo,
btw at the end, mas ok sakin for variety needs, and crybaby for standard wah needs, parehung ok, ahaha,
boss pw10 v wah- mahaba,mataba. crybaby - sakto lang kaso mas mabigat kesa sa pw10 .

my first wah pedal is Dunlop JH-1.. i sold it because i don't like the thick sound.. lol.. and my second one is a crybaby 535q.. and again, i sold it for no reason.. maybe because i have a good heart.. my friend likes my wah and he wanted to buy it.. that is why i sold it.. :-D

I don't know how Mahavishnu did it but he did something very miraculous with my VOX V847 MIA.
My original intention is to put a true bypass switch there and place an AC socket to use electricity for it.
I told him if there is something else to improve upon it, he has the freedom to tweak the wah.
Lo and behold, the sweep improved by leaps and bounds! The sound was throaty and fierce but still pretty smooth!
Mind you aside from putting a new switch and AC socket, everything was stock.
No need for a Fasel or a Halo!
The sound was that good.
Of course it won't sound like the high end RMC but because I only like those classic vox sound, I won't be asking much for more.

I'm using a DB-01 right now. Really versatile very similar to the 535q but this has a bit more edge with the q control. You just have to find the sweet spot and don't ever touch it again. Usually I set my Q knob on the 2nd and 3rd position because I like a lower sounding wah. This wah is a bit hi-fi sounding but what I like about it is it's sooo quiet.
Cons, I just don't dig the camouflage finish he he he..........

I was torn between those two but i thought the dip switches are too much for me to think about and I wanted a great boost for solo so I went for the Wilson. Plus it was really built well to last.

I have GCB95 classic US made dunlop wah (modded), Boss PW-10, Boss AW-3 with external expression pedal and DOD FX-17.
I dunno pero I kinda like the FX-17 but first you need to tweak to your liking.
It doesn't sound like any of the wah I've tested or mentioned above but I just love the way the wah sound.

Tama, iba ang laman ng MIC VOX wah sa US made By the way, it may be of some interest, but sometime before VOX outsourced their wahs in China, their manufacturer of Wahs was (no pun) Dunlop. I think some time in the 70s ata ganito rin ang sistema.

The Zakk Wylde wah is almost the same as the JH-1. I had a modded JH-1 before, I sold it.

I haven't seen an MIA VOX with adaptor. Even the McCoy reissues that came with 9v input are MIC yata

Minsan the question is not how versatile a wah is, but how versatile a player can be with a wah with too many settings that can be tweaked. I have a wah right now with 6 selectable settings, for me it's too versatile na for my applications. Given this type of wah I just chose the sweet spot on my wah and almost never changed it. But for me, a regular wah just works fine.

"Versatile" may be taken as something that can be used for different genre,applications or the tones available. Similarly, one may perceive a wah that has a lot of controls as versatile. I for my part, don't change the settings much on my wilson wah. I don't use all the available sounds it offers (lots of it), however, the multiple controls are essential in achieving my desired wah tone.Hence, GAS over...for aWAHile :-D

Impulse buy. I've always wanted to try this pedal even I hated all the demos over the net.
For years I've been using a heavily modded USA Vox v847. Trying to copy the bad horsie's sweep and its capability to cut through distortion. But with no comparison, I am loving how my vox sounds like. Added, gain, sweep, Q & those typical mods.
Now a bad horsie 2 in hand, I am so surprise how this thing sounds like. It's almost the same as my vox! With the contour control (Q control) , you can actually adjust the quacking sound of the wah. Well, I assume you already know this, but my point is, those people who are saying that the bad horsie is bad for cleans? That aint true. The Q control in ONE reason to make it possible. What is number two? The sweep. The bad horsie has a 0.022uf capacitor for the sweep. Crybaby & vox v847 has .01uf. That is why the crybaby & the vox are better for cleans. Because of the sweep. That being said, the bad horsie is not impossible to be good for cleans.
I put a switch to choose between 0.01uf (stock) & 0.022uf for my vox years ago for versatility. But I use the 0.022uf all the time. So years after trying to emulate the bad horsie using my vox, today, It's finally confirmed that I ACTUALLY DID IT!! The only difference between the two is the switchless feature. So why will I now settle for the vox? I am now a convert. Too bad the vox is rare. I'm not going to sell it unless I'm starving to death :)

Di ko ginagamit boost niya e. It acts exactly like a volume or clean boost. If after ng amp, it adds volume. If before/in front of an amp, it adds gain. About 80% ng contour wah is almost the same as the BH1..

Haha! Wala namang sinabi sa manual na hindi puedeng tapakan. Seriously, I've been doing it since I got the pedal a couple of years ago. Ganun din yung sa barkada ko, tinatapakan din n'ya. Could you just imagine how much tired your feet could get if you just hover your wah foot during the entire operation? :-D

Jen Electronica Wah Eto one of the best vintage wah(?). Good sweep lalo na pag clean tone. Kaso pag high gain di masyado maganda.
Dunlop GCB 95 Mura and maganda din naman pag minodify as compared to stock
I had a client before who had this wah pedal... among all his pedals it introduces a low 60 Hz hum... so what we did is we put a low-pass filter w/c value's enough to attenuate the noise.. result ► it's like using batteries... noise gone..
By the way, this pedal gives a real classic wah sound & it sounds great.. :-bd

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2689/4244800256_3cbf98c14c_z.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2750/4244803968_9216ca0b67_z.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i120/severthee/ax/IMG_2934.jpg ive come across some vintage(thomas, italian, jen wah, wah baby etc) and not so vintage wahs(rmc, wilson, area51), i love the quack and warm syrupy sweep they have. at one point in my personal projects, ive even become anal with pot taper, inductor hfe+ohm and transistor's hfe. i thought theyre the last piece of the puzzle to be tweaked since the RC are easy to adjust anyway, and though i never paid much attention to the fishly caps, i preferred the polystyrenes because theyre quite accessible even if theyre easy to scorch if you dont heatsink. although there are oddball audio transformer that i tried that didnt fall within the standard 500hfe spec but produced good sounding wahs. i remember i used something like 1000hfe before. but in the end i always go back to my plasticky, toyish, synthy sounding.. ibanez wh10. it was my first ever effect way back when i was a kid. and i love it even before the whole fame it got because of fruciante. i dont get the big deal on jacking up the price when one can easily clone it. nothing i encountered came close to it.... but maybe a moogerfooger with a cv pedal =]

i was using a Budda wah for a while and now i've got the Custom Audio Electronics wah with the 2 fasel inductor things. It sounds good to me.

its selectable with a line boost. the previous wah that i had kinda like it was the 535Q which i really liked because the sweep was selectable so it wasn't a one trick pony and you could use different voicings depending on the pedals you were using with it. i had a couple fulltones, an area 51 and a few of the RMCs but i never really liked them as much. only thing that came close was the budda which is why i kept it. the CAE is nice and is pretty flexible.

which ones they are (the make) i wouldn't know though i am sure you can look up the exact make of the components somewhere. but i do know that they change the voicing to go between emphasizing the mids/ lows a bit more to a more of a top end emphasis which is useful for me because of the fuzz and ODs that I use. in a band context, depending on the type of music or bass player im working with, going between the two tones is great because you cut through the mix more for parts of songs that need to be noticed.
if you can try one out, do it. its not a one-all-be-all wah but it works enough for me because it gets the job done.

Question: I have a Zakk Wylde Wah and gusto ko alisin yung rubber feet nya para maisalpak ko sya sa pedalboard ko. Thing is pag inalis yung rubber feet, sobra na yung screws nya, nakausli na pag ibinalik. I also tried looking for shorter screws sa hardware stores na pwede ko magamit, wala naman ako makita.
Pano ko kaya maikakabit yung plate sa ilalim nang hindi lalawit yung screws?

Hahaha yeah! me too! :) Actually ang type ko na wah ay aggressive so ang nakikita ko talaga is yung Zakk Wylde at Lynch 2.. Yun lang mas leaning to Lynch ako for the reason na maganda bypass ng Morley.. Heard lang ksi na di daw ok bypass ng dunlop pero i personally haven't put a single dunlop wah in my board so 'heard' lang... Tsaka switchless kasi ung lynch eh! :)

I have. Just so you know, Slash's wah has been out and available in the market for 5 years now. It no longer belongs to the "new" category. Anyway, Slash's signature wah pedal, with all its hype and style, is quite okay. But am not completely sold to it. Maybe I just didn't (I still don't) like the idea of a wah pedal having a built-in distortion. There's always tonesuck everytime the dirt is engaged.
But I guess the built-in distortion is the true selling point of the product. Otherwise, it's just an ordinary wah.

Very nice. I had an opportunity to try it when Mason brought his new FX/mods at (Joe) Morgan's room last LA Amp show but I spent my time playing the amps, by the time I was done they've started to pack up already. Maybe next time.

The 535Q isn't as versatile as it looks on paper. Try CAE if you can find one, two inductors really make a difference. If you really want a fully tweakable wah, go for RMC3 of 12 position Wilson Rippah Booster Wah

I think 535q is better suited for modern rock/hard rock application. Its voicing is too modern(hi fi) compared to most boutique wahs.

I saw a dunlop dimebag signature wah yesterday at JB music selling for 11k. AND IT'S ON SALE. <_<
I have the RMC Picture wah. Sounds way better than the Original Crybaby and the Dunlop Slash Wah. The sweep is super smooth.
But between the Slash wah and the original crybaby, I'd choose the Slash wah. It has more sweep than the original. I wouldn't use the built-in fuzz though.

hmmm depends sa tugtugan mo e. pati na rin sa gitara and distortion, OD mo. To be safe, if you want classic voicing which you can tweak to your needs, dunlop 535q or CAE Wah. Then there are the RMCs.

i love the way my dunlop zw-45 zakk wah sounds when it's on but i hate the way the buffer sucks tone. i wonder if modding it to tbp will improve the bypass tone. theoretically, it should, but i'd like to hear what you guys have to say. so, any thoughts, views, feedback from anyone here who has modded his/her zakk wah to true bypass?
by the way, i'm not necessarily a tbp fanatic so my pedals don't have to be tbp but the zw-45's buffer, to my ears, is ridiculous.

yung unang butas na mas malaki malapit sa sakong mo yun yung nag cocontrol ng pag on ng unit. wag mo gagalawin yun. yung pangalawang butas mas maliit. yung yung para sa sweep. bawasan mo konti yung nasa dulo malapit sa toe down. ingat ingat ka lang baka ma crack mo yung cardboard. kaya gamit ko sa mga ganyan xacto knife. pag nagkamali ko o masyado mataas high end sweep takpan mo electric tape yung nabutas mo.
trick is mas madami LED na ilaw na tumatama sa kabilang panel mas mataas yung sweep. yung cardboard na may butas yun yung shutter para sa panel na nagcocontrol sa dami ng ilaw na tumatama sa panel.

apir! subukan mo ibaba yung leds ng konti naman para tumapang yung tunog. mas malapit sa panel, mas marami ilaw ang tumatama, mas matapang yung tunog niya. mas malayo, mas bilog. ingat ka lang baka matanggal mo hahaha.
ganito din kasi pag mod sa mga optical na morley kaya sanay na. yung ibang morley katulad ng tremonti tinatakpan ko naman yung butas imbes na mag cut pa ako. masyado kasi yung treble nakakagising ng aso.

Takin' this all the way to the top again.
I just got me an RMC6 WOF Wah, and I am lovin' it.
It's got Q-control for sweep, Low freq knob for dialing in the amount of lows you want and a volume knob.
I just had 3 wah pedals in my lifetime and this is the 3rd, and probably my favorite of all them, maybe because of the controllable amount of sweep. It can sound modern and a little vintagey, so versatility is a big plus for this wah pedal.
To add, I had the Dunlop Slash Wah, and an RMC Picture Wah. I have tried a Classic Crybaby, a Morley Alligator, CAE wah and an AMT Japanese girl wah. I wanna try the Wilson 12-position wah and that Dunlop Joe Bonamassa signature wah.
Hi ponky26, I tried markcasq's jap girl one time I came to visit. It's a good soundin wah.. nothing more, nothing less... noticeable wide sweep, I can always hear those high frequencies that I expect cradle all the way up.
One thing though, nakaka-ngawit after some time. It has much to do with the size I think? I can't imagine playing "Yugyugan na" on it, wah being on the whole song lol. Or baka kulang lang ako sa stretching... hehe. But I bet it is more comfortable to use than the ZVEX probe wahs and that Plutonium (did I spell it right?) Chiwahwah, wherein you have to play guitar and do a balancing act at the same time. :-D

Hi ponky26, I tried markcasq's jap girl one time I came to visit. It's a good soundin wah.. nothing more, nothing less... noticeable wide sweep, I can always hear those high frequencies that I expect cradle all the way up.
One thing though, nakaka-ngawit after some time. It has much to do with the size I think? I can't imagine playing "Yugyugan na" on it, wah being on the whole song lol. Or baka kulang lang ako sa stretching... hehe. But I bet it is more comfortable to use than the ZVEX probe wahs and that Plutonium (did I spell it right?) Chiwahwah, wherein you have to play guitar and do a balancing act at the same time. :-D

Hello ka-PMs, tanong ko lang po kung ano pinagkaiba ng Ibanez WD7 vs Ibanez WD7 jr, kung bibili ako okay na ba ung WD7 jr? mas mura kasi compared sa WD7 or baka may marecommend kau na mas maganda na same lang sa price ng wd7 jr. Thanks!

btw, the mobile phone on the picture is a Samsung S3 mini. ^-^
was able to play it all day long last sat, couldn't agree more with nickson's feedback. noticeable sweep, all that i expect from a wah base on my experience is there so am happy with it. it will serve both my wants and needs. :-D

I hope di pa ito napopost... additional info after reading this article and being an AIC fan I've modded my GCB95 to a JC95 (easy as 1 2 3)... di ako nabigo.. ganda din ng tunog ng JC95... it inbetween the GCB95 and the Zakk Wylde .. not too trebly .. not too Ballsy and muddy... :wave: 1 drawback of the JC95 is that.. its Expensive.. I can mod a GCB95 for you... :money:
