Title: MOOER COMPACT GUITAR PEDAL micro series "thread"
Post by: Mr.cLEEn on May 04, 2012, 04:49:52 PM
this is it guys, thread is locked.
again, i am sorry i have to do this :( threads that are selling something (whether implied or directly) belong to the classifieds. i hope someday there will be a thread that would cater to stores and such.
for now, i guess the classifieds along with its rules will do.
if you see a thread of similar nature, do not hesitate to report it. thank you.
special note: this is really good, i hope someone will create a new thread to discuss Mooer Pedals without the selling stuff

here's what i got today and my initial impression (http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy291/rearocker/IMG_0816.jpg)
Shimverb - the coolest of them all. I was surprised how this little pedal retained the original tone of your guitar. good headroom not wobbly. hindi sya ngongo like tc hof (which i also have). shimmer is like decay/vibrato???there's a slight volume drop when engaged but i think reverbs are designed to be "always on", so i wouldnt mind.
Pitch box - I bought it because i have no idea what it is. curious lang lol. so now i know, harmony doubles your guitar tone, pitch up/down, detune is.......detune (good for andy timmons stuffs). its a fun little box, a little on the bright side, no volume drop. would play along
Ensemble King - you need to max out every knob to hear what it do- a subtle chorus. wont take you to nirvana territory. not exactly what im looking for
at 2k+ pwede na, it doesnt suck your tone and its built really well. i thought there's a battery inside pero wala pala, there goes my warranty lol.

Hi bro! Does the Pitchbox change any tone when it is part of the chain, on or off? I'm looking to get a Pitchbox to be the second guitarist of my band. =))

i noticed pag naka set sa 1 (12 o'clock) pitch down na agad. i still havent figured out the exact key, will spend more time later. but i agree, matrabaho mag set
also, shimverb and pitchbox draws 128mA each while Ensemble king uses 10mA. weird

GAS ako sa shimverb! Imagine "talsik" ang tc hall of fame based on Rmansh retrospect on this sub $40 pedal. Must have to buy this midget pedal.

-volume knob - difficult to tweak, sobrang liit, konting ikot biglang lalakas sa volume, mas ok siguro kung ito yun malaking knob
- tone knob - almost useless, very little effect if dialed clockwise/counter clockwise
-gain knob - may volume boost aside from gain boost, i dont know kung normal ito or not.
-sound - CB with more gain, a little fizzy, notes arent as defined, i think mas articulate ang CB iirc.
BUT
its a freakin cheap pedal. kyut pa :-D

The rest ay below 10mA each ang current draw..

dun sa nakagamit na ng shimverb, hindi ba talga polyphonic yung octaves? i mean, according to one, meron daw 5ths na kasama yung note eh. like pagtipa mo ng isang note, A kunyari, may kasamang E na lalabas. somebody shed light nga.
Title: Re: MOOER COMPACT GUITAR PEDAL micro series "thread"
Post by: jeshwey on July 09, 2012, 01:33:58 PM
Eto sabi nung nag rereview na by 5th's daw yung pitch niya, not really octave up :-o
Title: Re: MOOER COMPACT GUITAR PEDAL micro series "thread"
Post by: Musikerochan on July 09, 2012, 01:48:20 PM

Post by: hamhamham on July 09, 2012, 01:52:13 PM

hahahaha yeah I noticed that na medyo sintunando yung simmer niya..though type ko naman yung effect pero hinihinaan ko nalang yung level..I also got a chorus pedal.. bale 2 mooers nasa board ko ngayon..modulations lang..nothing too WOW and Amazing..plus its a great space saver..Chorus sound so so lang din..I liked the Biyang Aqua chorus better pero made a switch para may space pa sa board..value for money lang talaga and space saver..for modulations ok na siya for the price..pero siguro for main tone better find higher end and better quality pedals..I also had to paint the small black knob face para lumitaw yung level indicateor..hirap kasi makita pag madilim..value for money lang talaga..but nothing too amazing..in my opinion..

Yep, ok naman yung effect, tuloy-tuloy. I guess led nga lang yun. I opened it up and noticed it's impossible to replace 'em, nakatago eh. I'd have to return it then and hope new stocks arrive soonest. Anyways, thanks a lot! Btw, would you know if the ones sold in the US are made there? Maybe the craftmanship's a lot better than these one which are made in China. I also noticed that the ones sold in Singapore are about the same price as that in the US. Sobrang mura dito sa Pinas. (Lucky us?)
Anyways, regarding the effect: Got disappointed on the shimmer mode. Yung 5ths issue nga and not octaves. (Mas type ko pa yung Octo ng M9.) Workable siya pag low level and if you're aiming for just an ambient effect. Yung room mode, sakto lang. I particularly loved the spring mode. This pedal is not for reverb freaks. Get a Strymon, preorder from Spankyrigor. hehe This one's perfect for guys like me na simple reverb types lang ang kailangan and on a tight budget. Been cussing on how expensive verb pedals are when they can only do so much. The end. :-D

...was really aiming for the shimverb apparently naunahan nyo ko guys..also was about to get ana echo..parang 400ms delay lng eh..i need atleast 600ms..then i saw the Reecho online..Im really gassing for it now..i want to order na sa amazon..pati yung pure boost..
Ang goal ko is to make a minimalist pedalboard..hehe!

Tried the Pitch Box earlier. It's like a 2 in 1 pedal. Has that Detune mode that produces a reverb/chorus effect without the pitch shifting. Not satisfied with the pitch shift though. I'd get the Boss Harmonist over it. Still a cool pedal.

I finally got a Green Mile! I must say it IS a usable TS clone on the Warm setting. Quite low gain and quiet.
The Hot setting gives a whole lot more volume, but then the gain seems to be less compressed. Also, it gets boomy, and I must turn up the tone on the pedal or turn down the bass on the amp to compensate. Can't switch from Warm to Hot on the fly. di pareho ang unity gain. You would have to adjust all 3 knobs.
Well, at least usable ang warm setting for my needs. Should partner well with my Timmy or Screwdriver on my Nano-sized board.
I can't compare it to other TS clones as I've previously disposed of the others I had.

-----------
scored a shimverb sa dasma last saturday. hindi pala SRP ang bentahan, mas mahal dun. anyway, i think the spring and room reverbs are useable albeit short, while the shimmer mode does sound sintunado; the 5ths are very prominent. and the level knob doesnt function gaya ng iniisip ko: it works more like a mix control for dry and wet. kung sana tunay na level knob hindi mix.
sounds ok, pero pag mataas yung mix control pag apak mo ng engage parang humhakbang muna sya bago kumagat, unlike many other pedals na kagat agad. sort of like sinok pero di naman ganun kasama.

to add, i also tested the pitchbox. meh. for pure octave stuff pwede, but for harmony functions, olats. unlike the boss ps-5/6, there is no way to set a key para maging angkla, dehins ubra yung mga flatted 3rds sa pitchbox. i didnt bother testing the other pedals there, although parang type ko yung phaser, pero wala silang in stock.
hardware: the switch is stiff. parang matigas na may bumabara. baka dun lang sa unit ko. the guts are very ok, pinagisipan talaga. the pots are plastic. yung mini pots ok lang eh, hindi ganun kalaki yung chance na mayasak mo sila dahil nga maliit, but the big knob has a different potentiomenter, and it's plastic as well! wala ding nut. what i did was find a nut and washer from an old 1/4 input jack to secure the pot to the box kung sakaling maapakan nang di sinasadya.

Sure some other pedals out there sound better under critical listening. But the size of these Mooers are perfect for guitar players that need gear that's easy to lug around! And they sound decent! And they're affordable!
Can't wait for the rest of the line to be available at Lazer. May ETA na ba?

True bypass daw lahat. Which means a board with more than 5 models will be a problem unless they make a buffer, ideally in the same 1590a format. I hope they make a power supply also.

ok, so tested the Shimverb again last night, nilgay ko sa loop ng Parallel Universe para i get full dry signal and maxxed reverb in parallel. nope, no dice. apparently the Shimverb is a little out of phase with the original signal so having both channels at 50/50 makes engaging the reverb cut the volume and alter tone. so no, hindi pwedeng i-run ng parallel. you just have to live with it, then.

di naman bothersome ang tone loss sa lahat ng modes, since the tone control affects only the wet part of the effect.
using an A/B switch would be pointless IMO since the pedal is TBP naman. ganun din ang resulta. gaya nga ng sabi ko, at high level settings, there will be a perceived cutoff ng signal - lalo na in shimmer mode - because of the level setting; shempre full wet.
i think the main and only issue with the shimverb is the prominent 5ths na lumalabas in shimmer mode. who knows, but since parallel 5ths is common daw in Chinese music, maybe ok sa kanila ang tunog nun.

I tried the green mile and ensemble king in Lazer Alimall a few days back.
Green Mile first - The tone knob is not as responsive as my TS clone but it still sounds well... like a tubescreamer. The 'hot' setting have less drive but have a big volume boost that I think will work well if placed in front of (my preference with TS type ODs) another OD/dist/amp sim pedal for solo/adlib boosting. My verdict? - worth it for the price and the size.
Ensemble King. I prefer trying this out using my own gear for accurate clean tone response but since nasa mall... hindi kasing haba ng iniaasahan ko yung 'wet/ensemble' signal kapag naka maxed out ung level. Kinda expecting the really wet 80's sound pero more than workable naman as a chorus effect. My verdict? - worth it din for the price and the size.
Planning to get the EK since I already have a good TS pedal. I just have to figure out the PSU issue on my pedal board first. Waiting for the tremolo and flanger's availability to complete my modulation section of the pedalboard.

Hey gas peeps..
Just want to put something here.
I have the mooer greenmile. TS derivative. I love this pedal. It's a little hard to get the sound that you like but when you get it.. you'll be really satisfied. The dude from lazer megamall (sorry forgot his name.) helped me a lot, he explained all the pedals to me until i finally picked one. may free demo pa. hehe
enjoy gassers

I got to test the Green Mile and the Hustle Drive a few weeks ago....
At almost exactly the same settings, a huge volume drop was very noticeable on the Green Mile..
Ended up getting the Hustle drive! no regrets though, it's pretty sweet!

I never assess drive pedals based on setting them at roughly the same settings knob-position-wise because different designs always produce different results. Some have more headroom on tap, some have more gain on tap, etc. The trick is to dial-in the pedals' sweet spots based on your taste and just adjust their levels accordingly, even if it means that one is maxed out and the other is just halfway up.
The problem with this method is you might end up buying both. I did. :)

green mile ( ibanez tube screamer clone) black secret (rat clone) cruncher (marshall clone). :-D
Nah... 3 cascaded gain pedals is overkill for my needs.
Let me rephrase my question another way then... pre-supposing that both the Black Secret and Cruncher can do crunch chords well, which one is more versatile and has more to offer than just that?

ang sabi the black secret is a Rat with clipping options, while the cruncher is a crunchbox. the lack of additional EQ-shaping controls limit the overall tonality of these pedals. depende na lang men kung ano mas trip mo: compressed but cutting tone (BS) or crunchy high gain (Cruncher). the BS has switches to further change the clipping characteristic.

Which pairs up better with a Green Mile? Black Secret or Cruncher?
For use on crunch chords... Di pa rin ako maka-decide. :-\
Green mile and cruncher imo. Since both are clones din naman ng known pedals na ginagamit ko. Mas ok sa single coils for me. I use bypasser para isang click lang on sila both

have you tried it chief? I'm thinking of getting it... Can you elaborate "quite impressive" :)
tried it yesterday sa marketmarket. it has 3 delay modes. tape, digital, and analog. the tape was ok, not too excited with its warbly sounds. the digital delay had nice pristine repeats, the analog was quite good, sounded warm. it oscillates as well, but not as wild as other delays. but it still sounds great especially if you want some ambient noise building up in the background. although it feels weird for a delay to have such tiny knobs, the range of the volume, repeat, and feedback knobs give you a lot of useful settings. i have an ibanez de7 and it compares nicely against it. the de7 still sounds better and it oscillates better as well, pero matter of taste na lang yun.
how mooer fit everything into a compact pedal still baffles me :)) if i didn't have the de7 and weren't saving up for an x4, kukunin ko na sya. pero it makes you reaaaaly think twice. no need to mention the size, pero if you want a simple versatile delay/echo, then by all means, give it a try. medyo mas mahal lang kaysa ibang mooers. P3600 yata sya.

nice!!! kaya lang wala pang reveiw na available sa youtube,,, sana ok na yung shimmer effect and better than smaller version. kasi dun sa dati, mejo hindi octave sounding yung shimmer as the one which is in Strymon Bluesky, although i know na high-end yung strymon, sana lang kahit papano nai-correct na lang ng mooer ang minor glitch that is in their new shimmerverb and makasabay sa mga high-end reverb pedal, pagnagkataon, this is the right reverb pedal for me!!! here is the review of mooer shimmerverb (smaller version vs Strymon Bluesky)

Just bought a Blue Comp in Lazer Manila, here's my thought: (Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert, mas sanay ako ng gumamit ng compressor as a plug-in sa DAW, this is my first compressor pedal)
Hindi sya transparent, what I mean is nagdadagdag sya ng konting "gain" sa clean, have to try this on other amps though tignan ko kung ganun pa rin yung kalalabasan. Pag nakaheadphone-amp ka using this, dinig na dinig mo yung kaskas ng pick sa strings pero hindi ganun ka-obvious pag amp without the headphones, I think the pick attack can be removed dun sa "attack knob" pero useless yung knob, lowest & highest setting nandun pa rin yung pick sound, love it or hate. Pero overall, I will keep this pedal because of its size, naisiksik ko pa sya sa BCB30 ko, plus I want to fatten the sound of my guitar which is very evident, ok sya as booster sa low gain pedal.

those plugs will take up some serious real estate with smaller or crammed boards. unlike those angled plugs on DC chains from other

Spring &Room, somewhat like a delay on the very shortest delay time with high mix level settings. Not the usual for me. Compared it to my amps actual spring reverb, doesn't sound close at all. Also compared with a DSP pedal Supernatural Amboent Verb with spring settings still not close.
However, the shimmer is really nice and can get really ambient. Same as a +2 oct setting on my Timeline.

Well it depend on your use. If you intend to use it as an subtle reverb or an amp like reverb to add a bit of wet sustain "NOT" but for FX sounds/ambient music, Post rock etc... shimmer is really usefull. For the price i thinks its fair. But IMO if you get this. Get another one an RV5 or HOF. And your definitely getting it.
My advice to you is test it at LAZER muna. Then decide for your self.

balak kong bumili ng mooer hustle drive and it will serve as my 1st stage overdrive sa amph ko to make it a little dirty lang kaya lang di ako sure if i will go for it or not,,, as of the moment i have a joyo ultimate drive (another OCD clone) that does the work kaya lang mejo bassy kasi yung tunog, though it doesnt color my main tone,,, kaya lang nagiging bassy naman,,, i also want to know sa mga nakagamit na ng mooer hustle drive if the pedal has the same effect as the joyo,,, kasi they also said that it is an OCD clone,,, pero kung bassy din yung mooer, den better off i will let go of my joyo and not go w/ the mooer as well,,, natry ko na yung mooer sa lazer,, pero to be honest di ako masyadong nereview yung tone ng pedal kasi ewan,, nahihiya yata ako nun sa public,, hehehehe!!!
also,,, any reviews regarding mooer pure boost? :? any suggestions and comments will be much appreciated,,, thanks and GOD BLESS everyone!!! :-)

Then decide for your self.
thanks for the advice bro! nagGAS ako sa mga mooer pedals ngayon eh, especially ung mga modulation stomps nila hehe

Bet ko ang orange90, ensemble king, ana echo, reecho so far these are the one you should aim for. Yung octave di ko pa natry. Pero kapag ok to wala na ko gas sa PS6 or whammy4.

Yep, OCD clone nga daw yun. In a week's time, baka itry namin icompare ni kua neil (nrebua) yung Hustle Drive at Fulltone OCD.. just to see how near/far the former sounds compared to the latter. :-)

May tanong lang ako regarding Mooer Shimvverb.
Ok ba yung quality of sound nya when it comes to reverb? I'm not after the shimer effect of it, basta kailangan ko lang ng reverb na maliit and at the same time affordable. hehe thanks

thanks.

could be that the BS uses LEDs for clipping imbis na silicon/germanium diodes. iilaw nga yung LED sa loob pag malakas ang input signal (pag kinalabit ang string).

Fulltone OCD v4 versus JOYO Ultimate Drive I was expecting the JOYO to be able to come close with the OCD v4, however, it fell short...big time. On the same knob settings, the JOYO UD always had so much bass and fizz. JOYO UD was also louder at the same level (volume) settings. It was kind of difficult to get a setting from the UD that was close to the OCD. But maybe the UD can be modded to be closer to OCD specs.
Fulltone OCD v4 versus Mooer Hustle Drive This was where things got a little more interesting... On the same knob settings (level, gain, tone), the Mooer HD actually sounded really close to the OCD. I mean, really close. It wasn't hard to cop up tones that were similar.. The only difference we heard was that the Mooer HD had a little more bass and sizzle on the high mids, thus, it sounded a bit more gritty. Fulltone OCD v4, on the other hand, sounded smoother. But on a blind test, it was not easy to determine which is which, not unlike the OCD versus UD where the difference was night and day. For about 2k+, the Mooer HD is not a bad choice in terms of tone. Only question would be the reliability when road-tested.

that Mooer's big knob is not fastened to the box. careful when yanking these things, the pot shaft is plastic.

Should we consider a re-house? I mean if it's a worthy pedal right?
nope, not needed IMO. either you nut it down (find a fitting nut) or replace that big pot (not knob ha) with one na sturdy; if those 16mm pots fit, why not?
the smaller knobs tho are in less danger of getting yanked btw.

Haha..
Try the Mooer on a bigger amp.. saang amp ba tinest sa store?
TS9 is a relatively good pedal. Thick. :-)

For the sound? Yes. Ang lapit nung Hustle Drive sa OCD v4.. Tapos itong Cruncher (Crunchbox clone?), kayang makipag sabayan as Plextortion.. We were actually smiling nung tinatry itong Cruncher. :)
I think the Pure Boost is like an Xotic RC Booster.

Hey bro nice small but colorful setup!! Review naman about ensemble king?? Compared to boss ce2??
Thanks pie-key
The Mooer Ensemble King has the analog sounding chorus which is enough for me but I believe the Boss CE-2 is more richer. You won't be tweaking a chorus pedal all the way to the maximum depth or rate anyway. Recommended pa rin sya IMO :)

hey bro! according to source, there are a few rules to pedal order but there are a lot of different and interesting sounds to be had by changing the order of pedals. I have tested this setup and it works for me :)

yup I am more into Tube OD's rather than distortion (depende sa tugtugan)
I believe when any overdrives or distortion are first in the chain, the overdriven sounds will be more natural and unaffected than if they were elsewhere. Nag work din naman sa ganitong positioning. Pwede ko rin naman baguhin ulit yan :)

i gotta agree on what you said sir! 8-)
tama, wala naman talagang do's and don'ts pagdating sa pedalboard set up, its not like its going to blow your pedals into dust or fry its circuitry kapag nasahulihan ang isang pedal which "nakasanayan" na na nasa unahan ng chain (vice versa) it will all end up on how your are going to like the sound that your OWN set up will produce,,, we may be guided by principles pero that doesnt mean that we cant go beyond that, and besides, MUSIC is both SCIENCE and ART!!!
hehehe, si pareng HENDRIX nga,,, he once had a set up where in nasa last ng chain nya yung wah pedal! :-o yun lang, remember MUSIC is both SCIENCE and ART!!! hehehehe!!! :-D

quick question... i just bought a Mooer psu the one like 1spot, it was a good buy for less than 600php, anyways, when i tested the psu at my place everything was ok, all my pedals were working, but when i removed the psu from the socket parang medyo warm siya, i dont know kung nagoverheat siya or what, maybe the polarity is wrong? need some info mga sirs thanks!

It will heat up due to regulation and power being distributed. If yes there might be a problem basta dapat walang nakasaksak sa chain.
It heats up kasi it consumes power. Parang appliances lang o gadgets when using.

Tried both, go for the green mile. Yet, it still boils down to own preference on tone. Try them both at Lazer to find one that suits your playing. :-D

try the Moeer Green Mile. It has 2 working modes which is warm & the hot. The hot mode acts like a booster.

does the mooer elec lady mix well with dirt pedals? especially the big muff pi? I've been told that elec lady's in general don't do well with dirt pedals engaged
I tend to put my modulation before dirt (my preference)

sir i'm currently using a mooer cruncher for my distortion sa church.. haven't tried the US Dream pero IMO, ayus naman gamitin ang mooer cruncher sa church.. here's a sample of the mooer cruncher used in Time Has Come:
try mo mooer green mile (overdrive) and hustle drive (distortion). :-D
thanks for the tip sir, actually, im really going to buy a Hustle drive to replace my JOYO ultimate drive, masyadong bassy kasi yung joyo IMO, and swak yung mooer as my 1st stage overdrive, stacked and boost by either by ts9 or boss sd-1 (which also explains kung bakit di na swak sa rig ko ang green mile, to much "TUBE" na pagnagkataoon! hahaha!!!
thanks again for the tip!!! :-D

I tried the hustle drive yesterday sa local music store namin. Maganda yung output. Ang linis din. Maganda siya for Rock and roll type na mga kanta. Pero nakukulangan lang ako konti. Parang nakukulangan ako sa tightness ng distortion. Pero overall, okay siya. I wanna try the cruncher and the ultra drive too.

That's weird. The hot mode should be have powerful output than the warm mode. Perhaps you need to get that pedal replaced.

Mga kapatid. Recently bought Ninety Orange. Sinong meron na? Feeling ko kasi may problema yung akin. Parang nagccutout yung tone or signal habang dumarating sa peaks ng waves. Noticeable lalo sa clean tone sa modern mode. Hindi siya swabe e. Worried ako na may prpblema yung unit. Pafeed naman po ng insights regarding this. Thanks!

i use badmonkey as a booster for this pedal..ok din ang sound nya pag cascaded...hehe i don't have much comment yet since bihira ko i boost yung hustle drive..
for me, as a stand alone drive nakita ko yung tone na hanap ko sa kanya..hehe..

Maybe baliktad yung label or switch ng Green Mile. OR, just maybe their "Hot mode" means much louder volume with less compression and gain; more like a clean-like boost. In any case, both sides are usable, thou I only used the vintage mode for TS-like tone..
On the Cruncher pedal, gain is too much for me at the 9:00 'oclock level pa lang. Unusable except for extremely loud crunch! I forgot to look inside if there is a trimmer for this. It surely needs one.

:-D God bless!!

I went to Lazer to buy a Joyo Dynacomp clone, but I saw this Mooer Blue Comp and I just had to A/B them. Picked this one over the Joyo since the latter didn't sound like it was doing anything particularly noteworthy. Setting the sustain knob around 7 o'clock gives out just the right amount of compression while still keeping the clarity of the tone. Anything further than 12 o'clock results in a very clipped tone and some distortion (not sure if that's the norm with optical compressors). The treble mode is amazing - good for Minus the Bear-esque tapping riffs. I'm still not sure what the Attack knob does though, can anyone enlighten me? Overall, I'm really happy with this pedal.

Thanks for the tip and glad I could be of help! It's great on its own and works well with dirt pedals. Though it almost retails at the same price as a used Boss CS-3 so you might want to explore your options first. But overall, I'm really happy with it.
@tonwins11
Did A/B the Deluxe Crunch with the Mooer Cruncher. Both are fantastic pedals, but I picked the former since it had a presence knob which for me is a plus. Eitherway, both are ridiculously good for the price. You should try them out at Lazer. Their staff at SM Bicutan and Sucat are top-notch and very accomodating.

Too much compression can cause distortion on compressors. Thats why you have to get just the right spotdepending on your taste. Its just normal IMO

I tried this one at megamall. Pure Octave vs Pitch Box.
Man it killed pitchbox all the way. The sound is rich tama nga specs niya unlike othe octave machine wala siyang dirt drythrough signal talagang malinis. Its polyphonic octave thats why very realistic sound. Plus the benefit na you can control the high ang lower octave mix at the same time Gassing for one din ako kaya lang siya ata ang PINAKAMAHAL sa lahat ng micro series grabe kapresyo na niya yung OC3 sa classifieds hahahaha. OC3 BTW is its clone copy ata kulay pa lang give away na. Hehehe.

Hehehe.

Done with my PT Nano setup. It has Mooer Green Mile Tube OD and Mooer Ensemble King Chorus in it.
Cool, will we be seeing more mooer pedulz from you in the future?

And for the sake of this thread, here's what I think of the Blue Crab.
To my ears, the sound is compressed which I personally like. Would be great to partner with a single coil. You'll get better tones after half of the gain knob but would definitely useful to some on the first half of the gain knob. And of course, as an overdrive pedal, I always try to use it as boost for a distortion pedal. This little thing can really boost. I can still hear the compression which I think also cool. This pedal is the same size as a gd-123 enclosure from alexan. A very small enclosure that I was having a hard time building with because of its compact design. Mooer does it really clean.

^^ Have not tried but I bet that it would be just like any other acoustic simulator out there. Although I still have and love my Boss AC-2, the technique here is use your mid pickup if you have any. It would also help if you use it directly to PA or acoustic amp during live situations. It would also be good for direct recordings. Based sa demo medyo malayo parin para sakin. Acoustic electric sound pwede na. Basta Mid pickup, PA or Acoustic amp kung pwede. You can get it as close.

(Yes, one is replica of RAT and the other one is Suhr) I have tried the US dream last month pero unfortunately I wasn't able to hear the Black Secret kasi wala daw silang stock.
Thanks.

I second the motion. And also, acoustic simulators works well with solid state amps. Doesn't really sound well with tube amps..,

I own a black secret. The filter knob of the black secret is a plus for this pedal. It is a low/high blend knob that you can tweak if you want more bass or treble in your tone. And the question about it being thick, yes. Compared to my crunchbox clone (middy which quite sounds nasal), it emphasizes more on the upper or lower mid depending on your tweaking. I tweak it more favour on the upper mid if I use the neck pickup and lower mid if I use the bridge pickup. Never tried US dream though but I've tried Suhr riot once. We shoot it out with Shredhead. Almost the same. The difference is just that Suhr quite quite treblier than SH. SH is, I think, a crunchbox clone. :-D

mukhang kaya bro. dami options ng re-echo. pero test mo muna mabuti sa store bago mo bilhin kasi medyo mahal sya. sya pinakamahal sa mooer micro pedals.

It's an echo based delay naman kay short delay lang yung kaya niya.
Tweak lang. I can get Steve Vai type of lead tone with my dirt and by the ana echo to fatten it up. Kaya for solos, it does the job.
i returned the reecho dahil di ako kampante na umiinit sya pag ginagamit, parang di normal sa pedal e. i got the ana echo now and mukhang ok naman sya pang-solo. tama ka bro, konting tweak lang umubra din. maganda yung delay nya. i also got the green mile as boost for my plextortion, ang ganda ng tunog pag combined yung dalawa. very tight ang distortion considering that i'm using vintage single coils.

What's your setting sa ana echo for your leadtone? It does fatten up the tone kung may ana echo.
Here's mine.
Rate - all the way down (off) Echo - 11 o'clock Intense - 11 o'clock
Ginaya ko siya sa settings nung sa pyrimax (not sure of the name) video sa youtube.

Maganda yung ana echo sir. Warms and fattens your tone. Nice for lead tones and slapback delay type. Don't expect it to have long delays.
The other modes, alang volume drop.

Oks yung ana echo,,tama si tonwins11 it fattens your tone,,as it names suggest echo siya,,pero maganda,,for long delays syempre di niya kaya..lam ko based sa DM2 ang ana,,yung reecho naman maganda din yun longer delays and warm din ang sound niya...good for solos and that dot note sounds (hirap iexplain pero parang ganun) :) ako id go for the reecho kasi mas wide ang pwde mong paglaruan sakanya...

i recently bought the reecho. ok sya except that the pedal gets warm literally when you're using it. ngayon lang ako naka-encounter ng pedal na umiinit kaya parang di normal sa kin. i searched for reviews on the net and maraming nagsabing ganun daw talaga yung pedal umiinit yung housing pag naka-on. anyway, i returned it and got the ana echo instead. very nice pedal with warm echo (not the pedal housing he he)..

One more thing, the Mooer Shimverb is ok if your playing note for note but not for chord strumming since it cannot cover the high octaves compared to Strymon Blue Sky.

di ako makapag decide kung black secret or cruncher.
Bro, if ever you wanna get a black secret. I have one and cheap. :)
Here something I could say about those two. The cruncher is inspired sa marshall amps. Middish siya (which can get nasally sounding pag sinagad mo yung tone knob).
The black secret naman is a clone of proco/turbo rat distortion. What I like about this is that it has two modes and the filter knob is panalo. Tweaking the filter knob, it emphasizes more on the low-mid to high-mid end of the spectrum. Parang bass/treble blend pot siya. For the modes din, vintage mode is compressed. The turbo mode when engaged, doubles the volume output and is more open sounding. For both modes, at low gain, you can get a bluesy sounding tone while at high gain, can sound metallish! :)

I was thinking of that setup din. For lead tone with delays (reecho/ana echo) and reverb (shimverb), I can only think of Eric Johnson and Steve Vai! Tsalap!
Anyway, back reading this, may foreigner dito sa amin na gustong bumili ng shimverb to be used as vocal effects!

im torn between reecho & anaecho :? pero basing from youtube clips... parang mas trip ko reecho....
Actually tapon na yun ADD Analog delay at Come on Scream. Balak ko rin bumili nun Reecho for cleans with delay. :-D

may discounted price yang mga dealer na yan $44 lang. so kung yan ang pinagbabasehan ng lazer, malaki pa kita nila although kung iisipin natin ang gastos din nila sa pag-import, taxes and other duties, mukhang sakto lang presyo nila.

thanks sa mga nag-appreciate. panalo ang green mile for my purpose, as a boost.yung warm channel ay magandang boost for rhythms, yung hot channel naman pag solo. ang lakas ng volume boost nung hot channel although mas gainy ang warm channel. perfect boost sya sa plextortion kahit stock single coils lang gamit ko talagang ang kapal ng tunog. mas maganda pa syang boost kesa love pedal eternity. that's just for my taste.

just got the Anaecho, Eleclady and Pitch box (2nd hand lahat, thanks sa philmusic) :-D. IMHO: Ana Echo : Very warm, "organic" and natural. Short delay time but this is the pedal you will practically use daily. No frills, no fancy effects na nakakasawa after ilang months. Straight up pure and clean analog echo. Elecladygets the job of a standard flanger in a very compact pedal. "mistress" talaga tunog. Pasok sa mga 80s-90s light rock Pitch box the three options make it very worth while, Option one is the standard harmony, good mix, Option 2 is pitch shift wet signal only (para sa mga vocalist mahilig mag pa change key, isang pihit ka na lang), Option 3 is the bang for the buck, the detune sounds are great specially having this pitch range dials, you have an instant chorus like effect with lots of pitch combinations to choose from.
Now I am thinking of the mooer orange 90 phaser, any advice on this?

I have that pedal sir.

nagbago isip ko, I'll keep the blues crab and I'm letting go of the bd2. Mas gusto ko sound kapag magkasama blues crab and ts9 kesa bd2 and ts9. :-D

The pitchbox is good, a lot of things you can do with it, the detune setting sounds really good and worth the price you pay for this pedal alone, the pitch shift is okay, the harmony, not so much.

now thats maximizing your pedalboard. swabe. hindi ba sila nasisikipan dyan? upgrade your board na sir and sell that board to me. haha. cheers
Phaser naman is the "bomb" of modulation, swabe, hirap bitawan.
I am thinking also of pulling out the fuzz 2 for RC-3. Mabagsik kasi itong Fuzz pero masarap din pang classic 70s rock and stoner music minsan.
Cheers :) Salamat Mooer

Tried it several times, well so far so good naman IMO :) medyo naka-elevate pa kasi ng extra yung mooer. I will review that again. Delikado nga for the knobs pag di na check :)
Thanks for the tip

Heads up! Dropped by Lazer MegaMall last night to see whether they already offer the specific Mooer pedals I'm looking for. I noted that Mooers are creeping up in price... by a few hundred peos for the first models that came in initially; and up to P3+K for the newer models just in. :|

Guys, in your experience, which specific Mooer od/gain pedals sound great with solid-state amps? I would be using it on a Pathfinder 15w, a Cube 60, and/or a Blues Cube 30...
The only Mooers I've tried are those i have - Black Secret, green Mile, and Cruncher. But there are so many more models.
I tried my Black Secret on a ss Laney in a studio once, masyadong harsh ang tunog...

publicity stunt lang IMO ng mooer. they wanted to charge X amount for the pedals after seeing na pumatok, tapos yung macmart/wtfaccessories were able to get a big chunk of the earlier batches which they sold at cheaper prices since these were bought in bulk and are being offered as bundles. tagal nang topic sa HCFX neto. check page 2. http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/Effects-Pedals-Multi-Effects-and/Remember-That-quot-Mooer-Code-quot-Thread/m-p/34823387/highlight/true#M4050715
if anything, meron ngayong bagong model na parehong pareho ng Mooer, except for the box dimensions and some part changes. even the PCB is the same, could be similar OEMs. it's the Eno pedals. http://www.donnerdeal.com/brand/eno-pedal.html

well it's China. a chinese firm biting another chinese firm in the @ss maybe  sa tingin ko OEM nila eh pareho. kung proprietary sa mooer yung board design, they should've sued already, especially if they felt they were slighted by the factory for selling mooers to wtf/macmart at lower prices. baka publicity lang to command higher prices.

I'll make one, both insights, circuit tracking results, actual test. The only thing I cannot do is A/B, i just dont want to waste a lot of money on compressors that's why I decided to buy this and bite the bullet. It turns out (as of now) I'm so happy with how it goes so far.

about the two LDR/LED combo, how I interpret the circuit, isolated sila, the one functions for NORMAL, and the other one functions for "TREBLE" if you will look at the schematic notes.

i just got the Mooer Ana Echo, and wow! i am loving it. it is not a very versatile delay, but as long as you want warm, organic, and short analog delay, this pedal delivers!
i am recommending this as a supplementary pedal to every genre, except shoegaze or indie, cause those genres need something like a boss dd7 or more.

Ok tong Mooer napalaki nila brand nila sa Europe at US..galing!!! compared with other chinese pedal makers such as Biyang, Moen,-- ..kaya nagsipagkopyahan na yung iba..nakuha nila yung puso ng market dahil sa convenient size siguro..galing bilib ako dito..
actually, I have yung Acoustikar--- Nagandahan ako dito..swabe siya...sa excel inventory ko nga nakanote siya as "might keep"..
I sold off yung chorus ensemble at shimverb a long time ago...may trelicopter din ako..pero didnt really excite me much compared sa acoustikar..

positioning ng IN/OUT different jack for IN/OUT different DC jack, Mooer doesn't use mounted type DC jacks the other brand looks like it uses mounted ones. the small knobs has a wider gap on the yellow one, mooer a bit tighter.
this is a different PCBs IMO. I think what would make this identical is the main components inside. let's see. Let's see it then bro.

Okay naman yung Mooer Repeater for lead solos with distortion lalo na kapag naka-Mod setting imo.

Sulit na ba yung Mooer Repeater for 3.1k?

Title: Re: MOOER COMPACT GUITAR PEDAL micro series "thread"
Post by: r_chino18 on December 10, 2013, 03:37:34 PM
on a serious note, as long as it has a fairly high input impedance and low output impedance, and assuming it's fairly clean, it should pair well with a dirt pedal whether used as pre-dirt (gain boost) or post-dirt (volume boost). yung LPB with it's average-low input impedance (compared to FETs) lang - in my theory - ang medyo choosy when used as volume boost for a pedal. IME of course.

It has a gain control, and EQ it adds up a more treble for more sparkly highs. kaya kahit small compression lang litaw ang tubo sound. the gain control is active kaya kapag ang compression mo eh nag-volume loss puwede mo i-dial para ibalik yung nawala. which is very useful.

RC Booster clone. We did a shootout before, RC vs Pure Boost. It can pretty much sound like the RC, only the unity settings are not at 12 o'clock. They're somewhere around 1 o'clock for the Pure Boost.

tested the pure octave and lofi machine last friday sa lazer. warbly yung upper octave, no different sa ibang pitch shifters. akala ko pog-like eh, dehins pala. the lofi naman, it does what it does: it degrades your signal (reduced sampling rate). pero bothered lang ako sa hiss. but since its purpose is to crush your signal anyway, i cant complain.
pero wala akong binili  but i got the JT mustang instead.

RC Booster clone. We did a shootout before, RC vs Pure Boost. It can pretty much sound like the RC, only the unity settings are not at 12 o'clock. They're somewhere around 1 o'clock for the Pure Boost.
Salamat bro! Still thinking if ok ba sya.. I love my RC before, and I really want it. But for now I want to try Pure Boost kung halos parehas lang naman sila ng RC. Sulit naman siguro sa price. :)
Will you consider it giving a space on your board? (kahit maliit lang talaga to .hahaha)

As a cheap RC alternative, yes.

isolated daw ang outputs. how true? baka naman parallel lang, no different sa daisy chain ito kung ganon. kung isolated, kuha ako.
I dont think it is isolated like Voodoolab. However puwede din namang Isolated Regulation. With each output having its own IC regulators. Which makes More sense.

First time ko nakasubok ng green mile kahapon. Sorry for the descriptions. Hehe

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the review.

Nagsubok ako ng Mooer pedals lately. Maganda yung Flex Drive! AC Booster daw ginaya. Mooer Solo somewhat did not remind me of the Suhr Riot. I'd love to be able to compare it side by side with the Riot.
Eto naman yung nabili ko. I didn't A/B it against the AnaEcho. Balak ko irefinish din to metallic blue. :-D

Cayle, how does this par with the DBD?

It's not a fair shootout because the Echolizer isn't a DBD clone. :-D
Yun nga lang din. Pero I wonder what's the difference between a PT-2399-based delay and the BBD ones (MC4107D Bucket Brigade IC if ever the echolizer is really based on the Maxon AD999). Hehehe... :-D

Hi Mooer gurus,
I recently got a Mooer Pure Boost and realised one of the back plate screws was missing. Can anyone give me an idea of the correct replacement screw to look for in the hardware store to replace it? na-o-OC lang ako.
Btw, great boost pedal :).
