This is an offshoot of the "one and only guitarist that made you pick up the guitar" thread.Everytime we're ask on our favorite guitarists,songs or solos,riffs and tone, Slash or anything that can be associated with him was always near the top of our list. im glad to see his name grace the pages of our forum and i think its nice to know din what you guys think of slash. share nyo kahit ano opinion bout slash, how did he influenced youre playing, what you liked most about his playing, favorite slash solo or song,etc...any comments are welcome..

wen i was starting,all i wanted to learn is the intro riff to sweet child, i said kahit un lng matutunan ko ok nako..but wen i learned that riff it made me want to learn all other solos by slash...

+1 i think a great soloist's rythm playing is overlooked a lot which is sayang kasi they're as good as the solo din..

haha! i know someone will create a thread here for slash fanatics and im proud to say im one of them! mejo obsessed na nga eh! first time i heard sweet child, i said i need to know the solo, sad to say hanggang intro lng natutunan ko.. busy msyado sa work. there was a time that i researched all the info i can find on the internet tungkol kay slash. his bio, equipments, guitars he used before and other trivias.. iba karisma nya when off/on the stage.. lalo na pag solo with the top hat at the same time smouldering his cigarrette! iba rin tunog nya! he has distinct sound that not comparable to any guitarists! patok lhat ng solo nya sa lahat ng music with guns/snakepit at velvet revolver!
hes on the top of my list of best guitarists ever! :-D

I really like him coz he's a roots player d nakakasawa! Sobrang hindi cerebral ang playing at hayop sa pakiramdam may pagka laid back at napaka relaxed! mula nung elementary ako hangang ngayun pinapakinggan ko parin siya...

Bangas talaga to si Idol... the pants, the hair, the hat, the yosi, yung baby ng guitara niya na naka manipis na leather strap haha. Lupit pa ng stance niya habang nagsosolo, yung vertical na yung LP niya. Di ko pa rin kayang gawin hanggang ngayon haha
Siya yung isa sa mga guitarists na kaya mong kantahin mga solo niya na may matching air guitar and facial expression plus... i just love his tone. Others don't like it, but his is the clean tone and dirt tone that I really like hehe
Siya talaga nag BI sa akin bumili ng LP chaka gears in pursuit of his tone... in short, siya nagturo sa akin mag GAS haha
Incidentally the SD alnico pro II are so slash sweet when matched with the right guitar :)

not the most techinically proficient guitarist around, but definitely one of the best in terms of creating melodic solo ..compliments the song real well..

hmmmm... A lot of Saul Hudson fans here but I guess noone mentioned his music with Snakepit! It's five o'clock Somewhere kicked @$$ bigtime! It's my favorite Slash album next to Appetite for Destruction. Imagine if it was recorded by Guns N' Roses... :evil: I always listen to "Good to be alive" after waking up and about to drink coffee. :-D

use your illusion 1 was the first record (tape) na binili ko with my own money...alala ko sa isetan recto ko pa binili yun. nung narinig ko yung november rain, sobra ko napa bilib. tapos nakita ko pa mtv. sa harap ng church in the middle of the desert. tapos di pa lagi nakikita mukha niya kasi mukha siyang snake. kewl! iba talaga pormahan ni slash with the big hat and black leather pants. all hail!!! :mrgreen:

slash rules !!!!! i read in a guitar magazine that he has his les pauls made by hand to his exacting specifications and that the gibson logo on his guitar is purely cosmetic his les pauls are'nt really gibsons. he also once volunteered to play guitar for of all bands--The Stone Roses and was promptly told to bite it. That would have been a real great gig though.

Today,Slash owns about 45 gibson les pauls including those from 50's (gold top and standard) and 60's(standards and customs)...he has TWO hand made by the late chris derrig with which he used to record in all his albums and collapration with other artists.....BTW he's favorite LP for live use is an 87 standard(sunburst finish)

Dude, sorry to burst your bubble but it takes more than getting the gear to sound like a certain "guitar god".
I'm sure even if you give Slash a cheap stock behringer hellbabe wah and ask him to play the wah drenched solo part of Sweet Child, malupit pa rin ung kalalabasan! :-D

sir the wah alone will not produce an "accurate" emulation of slash but its good in its own right..astig din cya..i mean, you have to pair it with a guitar and amp that lets you dial the sound you want easily

sir hunk knuckebonze gumawa nung figure $100 excluded pa ung shipment limited lang un kya ok narin...hirap nanga mkahanap ng snalepit era LP 50 lng ginawa, ung 2 nkay slash, ung prototype nasakanya din..last na me nakita ako nun sa guitar center second hand worth $7,000...haay...kelan kya tyo mgkkroon nun?

slash fan here. actually it's funny how i started playing guitar. idol ko kasi si michael jackson dati at may song siya sa dangerous album na si slash ang naggitara. from there i started listening to guns and roses amd started learning how to play the guitar.

Velvet Revolver just keeps running like "freight train" off the track and their new album is out.
Sadly though..mejo madungis na si idol gumitara. madalas ng sumasabit. :-(
Lasing lang yun kahit nung GNR days nya may mga nights na wasak talaga tugtugan nya dahil sa sobrang lasing hehehe...

I like most of Slash's riff... overall his guitar playing... swak na swak mga licks nya sa mga kanta... He also has a solid groove... He's influenced me so much during my formative years as a guitar player... laking tulong sa akin. I love the songs Mr. Brownstone, Night Train, Give In To Me, November Rain, Don't Cry, You Could Be Mine, Estranged, Civil War, and syempre the classic - Sweet Child O' Mine! :-D Hats off to Slash! :-D

honestly Slash is not on my list of influence,but one of my insiration. i watch videos of slash, he's good,charismatic,and i like his looks, very unique :-) and Slash is humble by the way. An attitude that a player must have.

Yep, Slash is definitely up there with the all-time greats. Although sikat na sha nung araw (even till now), it wasn't his solos that inspired me to pickup a guitar but it was Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. :mrgreen:

bro mahaba ung setup nya pero straitforward, its basically a les paul through a nady-dunlop wah-rocktron hush noise suppressor MXR EQ( although for libertad, MXR boost/OD lng)-then through the dirty jcm slash
ung clean amp me yamaha multieffects unit saka DBX compressor sa loop
google mo or sa snakepit.org ung details, it would take you about $40,000 dollars to duplicate his setup tho :-D

ung clean amp me yamaha multieffects unit saka DBX compressor sa loop
google mo or sa snakepit.org ung details, it would take you about $40,000 dollars to duplicate his setup tho :-D

first band i heard when i was like a walking talking baby.. and yeah.. it's gnr baby! :evil: that was when i was still in indonesia.. and for a very long time (a latency period of stupidity) hahaha.. slash was the only guitarist i cared to know about.. so has he influenced my playing? hmm.. maybe the style he plays the guitar (take note.. not the tone or technique, just the style aka porma) hahaha.. dagdag na din natin yun yosi.. :-D i loved the song november rain and still do.. i still remember the first time i saw slash did the solo there.. wow! jaw dropping! hahaha.. but the best of all is his ability to create great melody.. damn! it sounds soo..... :-o the feelings from playing blues injected to the heavy metal world of distortion sounds awesome!
ps: i love the les paul standards and marshall because of him! hahaha

it would come pretty close if you get the distortion from the power amp, boost lng ung MXR/GE7
ung settings nya nsa equip section ng snakepit.org but dont forget, a lot of his tone( and many other guitarist') comes from their fingers

slash ended up winning the MVP and best rock guitarist for 2007! libertad meanwhile was the best rock album

...one of the the only few guitarists that mattered to me. i took up the axe when i heard him on "welcome to the jungle" sa isang tape ng kaklase ko noon (late eighties yata). iba talaga ang dating nya.. yun bang may yosi sya, nag ri-riff tapos bagsak ang buhok,takip ang mukha at nakalabas lang yung umuusok na yosi. Damn!!! the coolest sight to behold. Sabi ko "pag laki ko gagayahin ko tatay ko"..este sya pala.
then napanood ko yung rock in rio. that was the turning point dumiskarte ako ng LP..the rest is history.

actually sya din dahilan kung bakit ako ngayon nagco-collect ng guitar world eh,nagstart ako nung dun sa unang unang article nya tas after kong mabasa nagsubscribe nako sa GW kaso palpak lang yung unang subscription ko kasi hindi nila nasama yung mga CD-ROM pero ngayon yata parang ok na,so nananawagan sa mga GW collectors kung meron kayong CD-ROM ng issues AUG, SEPT, OCT, NOV, DEC 07 and JAN 08 eh pakopya hehehe...

just finished the slash bio and reckless road! (thanks richard!)
great insight from slash as a guitarist and as a person. nice pics and details on his life tho it kinda fast forwarded during the snakepit and blues ball era ( he did not elaborate on those periods kaya bitin)...i suggest if your buying the slash bio, go get the reckless road too(it has every pic from the gigs that led to the making of appetite )-thus, a perfect accompaniment to the other book. evry thing slash was talking about in the bio was releived in the reckless road...it has also great online features which you can acces thru enhancedbooks.com when you purchase the book.-its like youre in sunset blvd that way!

hindi ginagamit ni slash ang mga vintage guitars nya sa mga concerts. that's a 1959 Flying V by the way, yan yung ginamit nya sa 'knockin on heaven's door' solo sa UYI II.

Count me in among the Slash fanatics. Slash was my first guitar hero, and he still is, even if I'm musically into Brit-rock and synthpop and all that gay [gooey brown stuff] (haha).
Slash's "Estranged" solos are among the best in rock history. Slash's secret to soloing? According to another interview many years ago, he thinks in terms of vocal melody. And to think he never really veers away from his pentatonic notes.

its as if there are rules when you play that intro 1. you have to use gibson les paul 2. you have to use the neck pup 3. million of people around the world should know you as slash

Ayos talaga itong si Slash. Pinaka gusto ko yung tone nya. Instantly recognizable agad. Astig pang mag dala ng LP. Low strapped! Kung mag-iisip siguro ng guitarist associated sa LP, hindi mawawala si Slash.
Very basic pa yung distortion nya, hindi saturted ng gain kaya talagang musical ang dating.

Gibson USA kasi yung Slash GT. kaya gaya ng karamihan ng Gibson USA LPs medyo steep yung neck angle kaya mataas yung bridge. di gaya ng Gibson CS (historics) na may shallow neck angle like the 50s ones.

yup. kaya mas mabuti pa maghanap na lang ng late-80s "pre-historic" 57 GT RI na parang kay slash. mas mura na, mas accurate pa. same with his latest CS Sig. na replica nung '87 Standard live guitar nya. mas makakamura ka pa kung bibili ka na lang ng mismong '87 standard.

Slash is still my guitar hero. When he *writes* solos, you can really feel the emotion he puts into them. His impromptu solos aren't that good but you can see that he knows the whole fretboard. He's not just doing scales.
For me, his best guitar solo is Give in to Me (by MJ). Very melodic plus the shred factor.
His phrasing is also very unique. On a single bar he can go from 4:4 to some weird time signature which tabs can't really explain. For example, the last 4-bar run on the last solo on Estrange is tabbed as 4:4 with 16th-note phrases but if you listen to it, it's not just straight 16th notes. There's bits of triplet or quintuplet feels in there that you can't explain.

collectibles? mine is nothing compared to marc canter's....slash's best friend..ill borrow a camera :-D the goldtop is beyond reach ang mahal, i was a bit dissapointed to know that its not a custom shop and thus, has some inaccuracy. take the tophat knobs in place for the speed knobs for example..

find the rare GnR MTV unplugged bootlegs.. i think it was never commercially released.. found out that the set has pizzas and beers, couch, etc.. :-D

noong highscholl pa ko yung classmate ko nakabili ng libro about guns n roses author si mick wall ata andun pangalan nya sa lyrics na patama sa kanya get in the ring. anyway real name of slash is saul hudson if memory serves correctly galing sya britain tapos migrate sya amerika naging classmate nya si lenny kravitz sa hollywood highschool i think sayang yung libro me nakaarbor kung kanino napunta.

This is an offshoot of the "one and only guitarist that made you pick up the guitar" thread.Everytime we're ask on our favorite guitarists,songs or solos,riffs and tone, Slash or anything that can be associated with him was always near the top of our list. im glad to see his name grace the pages of our forum and i think its nice to know din what you guys think of slash. share nyo kahit ano opinion bout slash, how did he influenced youre playing, what you liked most about his playing, favorite slash solo or song,etc...any comments are welcome..
slash's solo's has good harmony and their easy to remember, he has cool tunes in his solo's thats what i like about slash.. tska malandi xa lage mgsolo.. heheh

been listening to GNR since i was elementary, my music preference changes thru the years but i kept coming back to GNR and slash's stuff, I like Izzy too his solo album wasn't that bad either but Slash is Slash :wink: and he's tone is to die for its what makes me pick up a guitar recently. bought the Slash les paul, bought the book, i have the music the MP3s hahaha! all i need is a top hat :mrgreen:

I bought in eBay Scala brand (box is still intact). The conchos were bought separately but i made it a bit smaller than what Slash have so it wont overwhelm my small frame. Total cost: about 150 USD.

i remember chris derrig and slash's real appetite les paul...
“I didn’t [strawberry]’ reintroduce the Les Paul,” says Slash. “It’s been around. I just don’t think that anybody who was really popular and touring worldwide was using Les Pauls around the time Guns came out.” Ironically, the guitar which returned the Gibson Les Paul to prominence in the late-Eighties is actually not a Gibson at all, but an exact replica of a late-Fifties Les Paul Standard built by a luthier named Chris Derrig. Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven bought the guitar and gave it to Slash during the recording sessions for the band’s 1987 debut, Appetite For Destruction. “When I was in the studio doing the basic tracks for Appetite, Alan Niven brought this Les Paul for me to use because I was having a really hard time getting a good sound,” says Slash. “I was getting a little frantic at that point, because we weren’t on the kind of budget – nor did I have the attention span – where we could wait around forever. “It became my main guitar for a really long time,” Slash continues.”And because I couldn’t afford a whole handful of that sort of thing, I took it out on the road for all of Guns’ early touring. In fact, I almost lost it during an early tour. It was stolen from me once in the crowd. I was being an idiot, leaning over the audience and getting pulled in, and some guy just grabbed it. I freaked once I realized that it was off my person – that I’d completely lost control over it. But our security guys went out and caught the guy before he left the building. That’s happened to me a couple of times.” The instrument came with Seymour Duncan Alnico II pickups (zebra-look), which Slash now uses in all of his solid-body humbucker-loaded guitars, and it has remained virtually unaltered except for the countless pickup rings pulverized by the guitarist during his celebrated on-stage antics. “I don’t take that guitar on the road anymore,” says Slash. “It’s beat to [gooey brown stuff], but it still sounds great!”
Funny thing is SLASH is the no. 1 Les Paul icon.... i don't care, i still like his style :lol:

"made for fans" daw yung appetite LP kaya mas mura. saka yung guts. they popped in Orange drops instead of PIOs or bees. saka yung bridge pup nya ay reverse zebra talaga, as per seymour duncan. it's the same Alnico II Pro.
uy i like the album ha. Slash stays true to his sound and genre. Love the track "Doctor Alibi" feat. Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. parang synth boses ni Ozzy sa "Crucify the Dead", parang walang gana si Chris Cornell sa "Promise".
may hapon pa! Koshi Inaba on "Sahara". hinde ko sya kilala, for a j-rock fan. wonder why sya pa yung napulot ni Slash.

check nyo rin 'gotten' , 'by the sword' and 'starlight' (love the intro on this one).
he's best moments are his slower solos, i think (with the exception of lemmy's 'dr. alibi'- a scorching fast rocker). very tasteful and great tone.

i recently watched the "MTV Classic: The Launch" featuring slash performing GNR, VR songs and solo materials w/ Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge (also appeared as THOR in the movie ROCKSTAR,the one who replaced marky mark in the end lolz)
the concert was in australia, he had help from ROSE TATTOO frontman Angry Anderson and WOLFMOTHER's Andrew Stockdale.

Slashed was using a 335 at the Australian concert, promoting his album.
He also used an ebony LP with a floyd...and was shredding his way on the solo. kaya pala niya magshred. iyong daliri lang niya was doing those whip-like motion shredders don't do, opposed to "hammering" on the fretboard with the knuckles like a hammer in motion.

hmmmm... A lot of Saul Hudson fans here but I guess noone mentioned his music with Snakepit! It's five o'clock Somewhere kicked @$$ bigtime! It's my favorite Slash album next to Appetite for Destruction. Imagine if it was recorded by Guns N' Roses... :evil: I always listen to "Good to be alive" after waking up and about to drink coffee. :-D
You guys should check out their (Snakepit's) 'Aint Life Grand' album. It has this killer track called 'Back To The Moment'. Astig solid!! It'll break your heart, drive you into tears (especially when your're "heartbroken") and make you make faces when you hear his solo on that song! And the album has Rod Jackson on vocals who has a better voice than the guy on their first album. Unfortunately he was sent to rehab for being a user. Its so sad that song was "overlooked", but its cool because it aint mainstream, not like what happened to "Gotten" from his solo album. Its such a great song too but they made it a "pop" song now.

Sa wakas, after 4 months of waiting, nakumpleto na rin yung Slash Deluxe Edition. Package includes (signed)2-LP gatefold vinyl edition, CD, slash shirt and immediate legal download of the album.
Inorder last April pa-birthday sana saken ni misis last June. Dumating yung customs notice last june 15. Pagpunta ko sa munisipyo, CD lang and t-shirt ang kasama. WALA yung vinyl. It turned out, na 'missent' pala sa Osaka Japan. Pero eto na sya ngayon, dumating last aug10.
yung vinyl sir, wala. yung cd meron sa music one. actually mas maganda yung philippine version ng album kasi 16 tracks (or is it 18?). parang yung japanese version. yung 1st pressing na US version (like my copy) only has 14 tracks. wala yung paradise city nila ni fergie and yung other bonus tracks wala din. but the legal download has all the tracks, including the bonuses. maganda yung Mother Maria with Beth Hart. wala sa CD and vinyl pero nasa deluxe legal download.
there's also a song called Chains and Shackles that is only available on the Aussie version of the album. pero yun din yung kay M.Shadows e, different lyrics lang. oh well! hehehe. But Chains has a better mix and a better melody. Also mas ok yung guitar parts dito. Mas ok sana kung eto na lang ang nilagay sa world-wide release.

Novermber rain ang number one song na pinaka favorite ko (kahit may mga iba na akong fav iba pa rin sa puso ko yung novermber rain). there are two reasons why... Una kasi yung solo kada palit ng note parang napasunod ako sa pag hymn at galaw ng ulo (that was then di pa ako marunong mag guitar masyado) ngayon may mga alam na ako, kada naririnig ko solo nya feel na feel ko na ako yung nag sosolo nag aair guitar ako. 2nd reason kasi ang lupet ng MV!!!! lumabas si slash, lupit ng camera movements tapos may effects pa na hangin hangin!!! lupet ni slash dun sobrang "RAKISTA NG DATING!!! GRABE!" sabe ko nga nun..
I can do the november rain solo now, pero for some reason kahit alam kong exactong kaya ko sya, parang iba pa rin tunog at move ni slashhh. haha

He's solos are so concise with every song...saka nandun yun "landi" factor...with every bend, pull-offs...alam mong "SLASH"...parang having sex with a guitar ba...para sa akin para syang Jeff Beck's style on steroids. :) He's blues root makes him more "flavourful". And he can shred too.

Sumablay sila sa sound ng gen.luna. Nasa gitna,front row ako, di ko maintindihan ang vocals. And caren's goldtop was feedbacking thru out most of their set. Sayang. Ok, different equipment. So what? not an excuse. I cant hear the vocals. When slash played, it was a different story. Myles' vocal was crisp and clear. I even liked his sound last night than in the stoked dvd, really it was that good.

That was because Gen Luna was given only an hour to bring their entire equipment on stage, set up, hook up to the PA, and do a soundcheck.

Akala ko matutuloy ang stage dive ni Myles. He owned the gnr songs he sang! Tapos bibilib ka sa stamina ni Slash. Palit guitar lang ang pahinga. Sulit ang oras namin ni misis.
Kudos to the crowd! Kahit hindi puno ang Araneta, the crowd compensated with noise and energy. I didn't pay for the tickets (got it for free when we bought a guitar for our daughter). Pero kung uulitin, bibili talaga ako ng tickets. Enjoy talaga pati si misis. I saw her smile all through the show. And her screams during the show (and after . . . LOL!)

bro ikaw nga ba yung nakita ko naglalakad sa parking lot around 12 midnight na ? kung ikaw nga yon hehe kami yung napatingin ka na nag pi picture taking with the 2 gibson LPs dun sa parking lot sa likod ng black na crv hahaha yung isa dun yung LP na gamit ni caren na goldtop pinagamit lang ni frey at pinadala backstage para mapapirmahan kay slash at napirmahan pareho hahaha.
nakita ko pa si ian, turi at dodjie sa patron haha

I was in the middle at the FOH checking the sound. Balanse ang tone ng vox. Ang problem pag nasa gitna ka ng first row, wala kang maririnig kasi sidefills lumalabas lahat. Pero kay Slash BUSOG ang vocals sa stage pa lang. LAHAT NG MONITORS SA HARAP, KANILA YUN. I was there at soundcheck so I knew medyo madedehado ang GL sa monitoring dahil 2 monitor lang ang binigay ng soundsystem sa Gen Luna dahil INUBOS nina Slash yung monitors. In fact naging donor pa yung ibang sidefills para maging monitors onstage nina Slash.
Si Caren may feedback nga pero probably dahil nakita ko naka on yung #34 mode ng AFD100 amp na dala niya. di siguro niya gamay yung effects + amp settings with that amp.
So we decided to place all GL's amps to be so close to each other so they can rely on STAGE volume and not the monitors. Pansinin niyo na halos nasa gitna na ng stage nila yung drumkit ni Bea to compensate for the lack of monitors.

Last night was a great show! The band was tight! Truth be told, I've never been a big fan of Slash's since the beginning as I was more attracted to GnR as a whole than just Slash alone. But last night, Slash was pretty amazing! So was Myles. The whole band, actually. Two thumbs-up for the sound techs/engineers, too, for being able to keep Slash's tone and sound raw and loud. Also, for not f.ucking-up this time. But I think Slash and company brought their own tech team that's why, but, I don't know. But just the same, the mix was also a highlight.
It's just sad to know that, although many came to witness this once in a lifetime event, the venue was still far from being packed, considering the fact that the tickets were already fairly priced. For someone like Slash's stature, the tickets were actually cheap. It pains me to know that not all are still willing to spend a couple of thousands to watch a legend in action.

Dun sa pwesto namin (upper box A 302), hindi ko masyadong ma-discern ang tunog ng bass. Both the Gen. Luna, and Slash's set. Tuwa naman ako, may ilang mga teens na kasama ang parents na nanuod ng show.
I dunno kung forumer dito yung naka-stripes ng white and blue ( I overheard him talking about gear dun sa pila). Naunahan ko kasi sa last na XL shirt. Sorry, di na kasi ako nag-dalawang isip kung kasya ba yung shirt sa akin or hindi, Gildan naman eh.

Slash rocked! I didn't expect na sobrang linis ni Slash pag live (compared to some of his live performances where he played a bit sloppy).
Medyo disappointing lang yung dami ng crowd, pero mas naappreciate ata ni Myles na kahit hindi napuno ang Araneta eh talagang yung mga audience in attendance is talagang all-out sa pakikipag rak en rol with them. :-D

nag gigitara pala si Myles Kennedy :roll: wow Alter Bridge! parang hinimas nya lang yung gitara nya sa stage, 3 or 4 times lang nagamit...
great setup for the main band! great mix! and yes, ang linis nga tumugtog ni Slash!

dude at soundcheck, Todd Kerns (their bassist who slung his bass like Duff) performed BLACK DOG by Led Zep. Sabihin na lang nating, PARANG NARINIG MO SI ROBERT PLANT KUMANTA. Tapos, siya rin kumanta ng Dr. Alibi na originally si Lemmy Kilmeister ang nag-vocals (sa RNFNR Slash album).

Todd Kerns & Co. is pretty much known in their local rock scene but I guess because they sound too nostalgic rather than fresh. Alam mo naman ngayon ang uso Youtube wonders, na hindi talent ang basehan.

Which brings me to an important point: Ang daming fanboy dito kay slash pero ilan nga sa inyo bumili ng latest CD niya at full retail price? I did. Ilan ba ang bumili ng lahat ng album niya simula sa panahon ng GNR? I did and all with me.
They are NOT popular because people don't want to pay for really skilled artists and expect mindless manufactured music like GUNGNAM STYLE for free. Pusta tayo kung nagSOLO is Slash sa GUNGNAM STYLE ni PSY mas magiging famous siya. But hindi ganun si Slash and thats why I admire the guy. Alam niya kung anong baduy at walang artistic value just like they turned down Glee.

meron ba tayo backstage rig report ng mga sinuwerte makapasok backstage? ano yung wah na gamit niya sa manila gig?
I did some tech duties with some buddies (inigo, telemetry, and a couple of others) for General Luna and we snagged some pics. Some are from telemetry's iPhone and the security was very tough.

nagenjoy ako sa concert ni Slash. yung GNR songs pati ang slither ang FTW para sa akin.
Sa sobrang luwag ng araneta, nakatakbo ako sa upper B section ng araneta during paradise city!

Which brings me to an important point: Ang daming fanboy dito kay slash pero ilan nga sa inyo bumili ng latest CD niya at full retail price? I did. Ilan ba ang bumili ng lahat ng album niya simula sa panahon ng GNR? I did and all with me.
wala lang ako Spag Incident (i had it on cassette though). Thats the only one i wasnt too fond of.

this is great! :) Though he didn't fill up the coliseum, i have a feeling he enjoyed his performance here because of the energy of the crowd. i noticed the band was a little stiff at the onset, but later when they got the whole vibe of it, Slash went on fire. i still can't believe ive seen Slash playing right in front of my very eye. Awesome!

BTT: IDK if ako lang nakapansin pero medyo muddy tunog ni Slash, but despite that, great show, hanep yung bassist galing kumanta
Todd Kerns, Slash's bassist, is actually a well-established multi-instrumentalist and has done numerous projects with famous artists. He also had a steady career in Las Vegas doing rock covers.
If you heard him at soundcheck, bumanat sila ng Black Dog ng Zep. Deym, 100% right on the money.

San ka nakapwesto? Kami sa harap ng setup ni Slash. Not muddy at all.
First naming pwesto is sa side ng rythm guitar, patron, then after nun lumipat naman kami sa side ni Slash, then nung nag rocket queen na, lumipat kami sa gitna, nung bandang huli before mag paradise city, pumwesto ako sa harap ng board para lang marinig ko yung tunog sa perspective ng sound engineer, but still the same, me mga times kasi na dry yung mix, lalong na eemphasize yung muddiness, pero pag nilagyan na ng delay or reverb, nababawasan naman yung pagka muddy, again, yun eh sa aking pandinig, o baka madumi lang tenga ko lol

Kung type mo tunog ni Frank Sidoris (rhythm guitarist) na naka Wizard amps, baka alam ko na kung bakit muddy para sa iyo tunog ni Slash.

I see, kaya siguro, kasi ang reference ko lagi kasi is yung tunog nya sa album, di ko maalala kung anong kanta yun nung concert, habang nag rythm sya, neck pickups ang gamit nya(sabagay, kaya nga pala rythm nakalagay dun sa toggle lol)
